Leafstorm scented the air. The she-cat didn't smell like any Clan he knew. And for now, she was outside of the Clan's territory. He noticed that she looked a little chubby and wondered if perhaps she was a kittypet. He relaxed the fur on his back, but kept his muscles tense. "Do you know this cat, Oak?" he asked.

After a moment of silence Oak nodded, he shuffled his paws and stared down at them.
The brown she-cat did exactly the same in almost the exact same way.

Leafstorm looked back and forth between the two of them. He was more curious than upset. "Who are you?" he asked the she-cat, trying not to sound too gruff.

"I am Berry..." The she-cat whispered taking a few step closer toward Oak.
Oak sighed, "Sorry she's just really shy, come here Berry." he watched as the round she-cat hurried over and hid behind Oak, her head poking out a little.

Leafstorm bit back his retort that this loner shouldn't be in the Clan's territory. "How do you two know each other?"

"She's my sister." Oak stated in a matter-of-fact tone, his eyes staring straight at Leafstorm as if daring him to do or say something he might regret.
Berry gulped and spoke, "I don't mean anyone any harm, honest. I usually stay in the forest anyways, I only come close to the border to see my brothers." she explained.

Leafstorm felt his eyes widen. His sister! He glanced at Oak and met his gaze, then looked at Berry. "Why didn't you come with Hollow and Oak to join our Clan?" he asked in a friendly tone.

"That's none of your business!" Oak growled, his fur bristling. He felt his sister place her tail on his shoulder, he calmed down a little.
Berry took a step toward Leafstorm, "It's a... family matter." she mewed slowly as she tried to find the right words to say.

Leafstorm backed away a little at the fierceness in Oak's voice. But then he felt his fur bristling defiantly. "I don't mean to pry my nose where it doesn't belong. I was simply thinking that the Clan needs more warriors is all."

Berry shook her head, "I'm not allowed to join, I mean I'm your clan would be pleasant and welcome me but I've already been told I couldn't. Only Oak and Hollow could go." she mewed.
Oak leaned over and whispered something into Berry's ear, she rolled her eyes but said nothing.

Leafstorm fought against his curiosity. He didn't want Oak to hate him for asking too many questions. But so be it if he did. "Who told you that you couldn't?"

Berry looked back at Oak, the tom shook his head at her. Berry looked back at Leafstorm awkwardly, "Like I said before it's a family matter..." her voice trailed off.

Leafstorm could only wonder that meant. They were full-grown cats. Surely they didn't answer to a mother or father? "I'll leave you two alone," he said, starting to back away from the pair.

"Couldn't you have thought of anything else to say?!" Oak hissed softly, "I'd rather not have to get Hollow involved with this again!"
Berry had her small ears folded back, "I'm not good at lying, and don't get Hollow involved! This cat seems nice..." she whispered until her voice went silent again.
"You think I don't know that, and how many times have we told you to not come here during the day? Does 'he' know you're out here?!" Oak growled.
Berry frowned and shook her head, slowly creeping back towards the forest.
Oak let out a heavy sigh, "Just be more careful please! Starclan preserve us if something were to happen to you!" he mumbled angrily. He watched her disappear before running off to find Leafstorm.

Leafstorm was padding away from them, idly scenting the air. He could find some prey to take back to Clan, but his heart wasn't really in it. His mind was elsewhere. He may have blown his friendship with Oak and although now he knew where Oak and Hollow went, he was no closer to finding out why.

"Leafstorm?" Oak mewed loudly, tracking the tom by his scent. When he finally saw the tom in the distance he stood them unsure what to say or do.

Leafstorm wondered if he could still see the pair and glanced back to see Oak looking at him. He bounded his was over to the other tom. Maybe something could still be salvaged. "I'm sorry for asking too many questions," Leafstorm said.

"I'm sorry for snapping at you." Oak apologized with his head hanging low. "But on the upside you were with me today, if you had been with Hollow this would have turned out very differently... at lot more hissing and growling."

Hollow sighed in annoyance, "I'm fine, don't you have more important things to do besides sticking your nose in other cat's business?" he mocked, flicking his tail dismissively at Velma. "Not necessarily." She mewled, liking gently at her paw and rubbing her face. "You know I love a good mystery, Hollow." She then tilted her head slightly, trying to get a better look, or feel, on the tom. She wanted to test if she could read him as well as she believed. |

Hollow seemed to be walking in circles and random directions, leaning back onto his hind legs to see above the tall grass. He seemed to be having trouble figuring out which way he was going.

Oak mewed, he started walking back toward camp though perhaps he was taking a longer path there. His eyes and ears were alert, waiting for any sign of prey. |

Leafstorm heard a rustling and crouched to see when could be around. A sparrow was pecking at the ground not too far away.

Oak noticed the sparrow as well, he crouched down quietly and watched it before creeping up behind it slowly.
