Silentpaw struggled over the fence and flopped down near the bush trying to catch her breath. "Who's going to go hunting?" She asked Hailstorm and Eveningbreeze.

Hailstorm smiled at the friendly kittypets. "It is very kind of you to share your yard." He believed that each kittypet's yard was much like their own territory and in turn was very honored that they would share it. "We won't be any bother." After bowing his head respectfully at the two she-cats he turned to his traveling companions. "I'll go hunting tonight. We can rotate who hunts each night so that no one cat gets worn out." "If you go that way towards the front of the house, and cross over the alley and the other row of houses, there's a large hay field, that should have been harvested not long ago. It will be practically crawling with mice.", Nala said." I did a fair bit of hunting in my day.", she said." Back when I could get to the top of the fence with the plant rack. I haven't been able to since they moved it to the house's wall.", she said. "Why not?", Eveningbreeze asked. Nala frowned." The owner's I had before this family had my claws removed.", she said, flexing her paw to show them, no claws unsheathing." But I've learned how to get around that." |

We can't stay in one place too long, we've already delayed.", she said. Nala dipped her head." I can show you the best way out of town tomorrow.", she said." Hailstorm nodded and followed Nala's instructions and made his way to the field. He could see mice all over the field as well as a cat that looked extremely familiar. The cat was hunting the mice. Hailstorm got closer to the cat and gasped out loud. "Swiftclaw? Is that you?" The cat looked up startled. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know who that is." She replied. Hailstorm looked down embarrassed. "Sorry, you just look like someone I know. Though I notice now that your paws are different." The she-cat looked at him with a confused look on her face and walked closer so they wouldn't scare the mice with their loud voices. "How do you mean their paws are different?" Hailstorm was startled by the cat's question, he wondered why she was so concerned with Swiftclaw's paws. "Well, she has extra toes." He said cautiously. All of a sudden the she-cat broke into tears and looked at Hailstorm with her eyes full of happiness. "You mean she's ok? My little Mitts is alive?" Hailstorm was taken aback by how this cat knew Swiftclaw when he realized just who she was. "You're her mother aren't you?" The she-cat replied with a nod. "She was taken from me by my housefolk who thought she was ugly. I never gave up hope that she somehow survived and like sign from above you have showed up and I now know that she is ok." She used her paw to wipe at the tears on her face. "Can I see her?" Hailstorm tensed up at what the cat had said. "We are actually a long ways from home on a journey. We don't know how long it will be before we get back to our clan." The she-cat looked down at her paws sadly. "Oh, I see." Seeing Swiftclaw's mother so sad made his heart hurt. He could only imagine that his father was feeling the same way as her since they left the clan. "I have an idea. If you can wait until we come back through here on our way home then I'll take you with me." He knew that the deputy might not approve but he couldn't stand the thought of keeping Swiftclaw and her mother apart any longer especially now that he had it in his power to bring them back together. "Oh thank you thank you thank you!!" The she-cat exclaimed. "You are simply amazing! I can't wait to see my little Mitts again. Oh I almost forgot, my name is Angel by the way." Hailstorm smiled at Angel. "It's nice to finally meet the mother of my best friend. But I still have to get some food to my friends, would you mind helping me?" Angel nodded and after hunting for a while they padded back into the yard with their jaws full of mice. Hailstorm eyed Eveningbreeze and Silentpaw curiously, wondering if they would make the same mistake he did and think that Angel was Swiftclaw.

Hi, Angel.", she said." It's good to see you again." Nala dipped her head at the she-cat." You look well.", she mewed. |

Angel turned to her kittypet friends and greeted them. "Hello Izzy, hello Nala. It's good to see you too. Do you remember the story I told you about my daughter Mitts? Well these young cats know her! I can't believe my little one survived. I'm so happy!" Hailstorm padded up to the deputy and spoke happily about his discovery. "You won't believe who Angel is Eveningbreeze. She's Swiftclaw's mother!" Hailstorm exclaimed excitedly. "She wants to come back to HauntedClan with us. I can't wait to see the look on Swiftclaw's face when they are reunited! Though I told Angel that she would have to wait to travel with us until we are on our way back to the clan from our journey. I just can't wait!"

Angel purred happily. "Thank you so much! I may just be a house cat but I think living in the wild would be much more freeing. I even prefer to eat mice over the food my house folk give me. I'm also a bit ignorant in the ways of your clans so you'll have to explain it to me before we got back to your home." She smiled at all of the cats. Hailstorm nodded his head. "We will tell you all you'll need to know. But we will do it on the way back through, we need to rest up now so we can reach our destination."

"I completely understand." Angel mewed to Eveningbreeze. "I'll be joining you when you come back through here on your way home so I won't be in the way. I'll even practice my hunting more while you're gone so that I can hunt for you all on the journey back to your clan." Hailstorm finished eating the mouse he had picked as the other cats had been talking and curled up where the kind kittypets told them they could sleep. He was able to say one last thing before he fell asleep. "I can't wait to see the look on Swiftclaw's face when she sees her mother, she'll be so happy."

Hailstorm woke up feeling refreshed. He was laying against something warm and it was cozy. It took him a moment to realize that this warm fur he was leaning on was in fact Eveningbreeze and his face suddenly heated up in embarrassment. He was nervous that if he moved she would wake up and see him but he also realized that if he didn't move she would still see when she woke up. He decided to move as slowly as possible and was able to get up without disturbing the deputy. He let out a quiet sigh of relief and padded over to the pile of mice he and Angel had hunted the previous night. He grabbed a plump mouse and sat a little ways from where they had slept to eat his prey.

Silentpaw woke and padded out of the little den they had for a night. Streatching she padded over and grabbed a mouse from the pile that Hailstorm and Angel brought back.

Hailstorm flushed with embarrassment. Was it that obvious? "I'm not avoiding her if that's what you're thinking. I just don't like the idea of the deputy seeing me worried or anxious about the journey because it makes it seem like I'm not prepared." What he said was only half true. He was avoiding Eveningbreeze because of how he woke up had she noticed. He truly didn't like the idea her seeing him worried and anxious.
