(I might drop Stoemstrike and Foxclaw for now just cause I think it'll be easier to manage two characters now, but could I have them saved so I can bring them in later? Like their flowers can be freed up, but I want to save them so I can just bring them up when I'm feeling better. Working on a response for Gingerpaw) (idk if you saw this but I've just got a lot going on right now so if I could drop those two for a bit and hopefully pick them up again when stuff gets better, that'd be great?)

"Ooooh! I can practice my herbs when we're out!" Gingerpaw said. She paced around the den, excited to get out and explore. "Do you think the green cough will be bad? How do we prevent ourselves from getting it if we're working with the sick cats?" she asked.
This is the kind of stuff that made her nervous. "And what if like, you get sick? I'm not ready to do everything on my own. Or what if we get kits sick cause we're moving from sick cats to kits?" she asked. She had always been separated from the really sick cats when she was in here and hadn't always seen what Russetear did when he helped out with the sick cats.
But the rest of her questions focused on the happier parts about being a medicine cat. "How many kits will be born this year? Oooh , do you know how many kits Blackbird is going to have? Do you think we'll save any lives?" she asked.
This was all stuff that Gingerpaw had wondered when she was stuck inside the den as a kit. Now that she was actually supposed to be here, she figured it'd be a more appropriate time to ask these questions that when she was just a sick little kit.

(My original post got lost in the middle of a time-out error. My internet is horrible ;-; )
Russetear visibly recoiled from the sheer amount of questions thrown at him from the young she-cat. His tail swiped back and forth, as he hurriedly tried to think of what to say.
Some of those questions took a dark turn, he realized. Russetear recalled how he felt when the previous medicine cat died, how it seemed like he had large pawprints to fill while the physical and spiritual well-being of his Clan-mates fell onto his shoulders. Then, Gingerpaw's questions took a more lighthearted turn, truly a hallmark of how young Gingerpaw was...
Russetear did not hesitate to pounce on the opportunity, both figuratively and literally. He suddenly moved in front of Gingerpaw to cease her moving about and to grab her full attention. "Sickness doesn't always equate to death," he purred, trying to sound like he possessed at least a modicum of wisdom. "That's why we're going out to gather today -- having the right herb for the right disease makes a world of difference."
With that said, he slid past Gingerpaw, lightly and affectionately batting his tail against her shoulder. "Coming? I thought you wanted to practice your herbs," he teased.

(Stuff is finally starting to get better though I'm still not sure how my schedule will be during the week)
Gingerpaw purred. "We better go stock up on herbs. Don't want any cats dying on our watch," she said. Gingerpaw hadn't had to deal with a patient dying yet, and she was unsure how she'd handle it. She just hoped she still had Russetear with her for two reasons. 1) He was much more experienced and could show her how to properly handle it. 2) They had a pretty close relationship and at this point, he was the one she went to when she needed comfort. Having him at her side would help.
"I do want to go practice my herbs," she said, bouncing out of the den ahead of him. She hadn't been outside of camp as much as normal apprentices, but she'd been out enough that she considered herself comfortable with the area, especially around camp.
"Can you quiz me on the herbs before we pick them?" she asked. "I've been practicing my herbs when you're out doing stuff, but the problem is that I don't know if I have them correct or not," she said. There were some that were obvious, but Gingerpaw struggled with the ones that were uncommon or looked or smelled similar to another herb.
"And do you think we'll maybe be able to hunt on the way home? I know we're medicine cats and not warriors, but it can't hurt to have more prey in the fresh kill pile, right? Plus someone we'll come get us if anyone needs us or something," Gingerpaw said, sure she was making a convincing argument to her mentor.

Russetear watched her bound ahead of him, his uncolored ear twitching. Gingerpaw seemed to have started developing a bit of a darker sense of humor -- while he had absolutely nothing against it and definitely had his own moments, he mostly thought it good to curtail comments like 'now let's see if this works' in front of cats that were worried about their own survival. It was something he'd maybe address later, but he wasn't looking to make Gingerpaw feel down.
"I was already planning to quiz you," Russetear replied bemusedly, padding up alongside her. "Though, I'm afraid we won't be hunting. Carrying fresh-kill and herbs together doesn't always end well."

WORDS Morningskies & Woodpeckerpaw | Territory
The crestfallen expression of the fellow apprentice had Woodpeckerpaw frowning a bit, sympathy welled in his big orange gaze as he studied his dear friend. When Pinepaw turned to him, the tabby simply smiled encouragingly, his thin tail coming out to gently pat the apprentice on the back. He briefly stumbled- as he usually did, for his growing body was lanky and lean and awkward- before righting himself and continuing alongside his friend, who which he wouldn't leave for anything. His voice was soothing,
" It's alright, there will be more prey around we can catch. We can give it to Blackbird. "
Weary eyes threw up towards Windblossom, watching as she nudged Applepaw in the direction of the prey. He figured Pinepaw would be a little bit better in his training if she actually took time to work with him on it- but Woodpeckerpaw didn't know her side of the story. He was a sweet background boy, it wasn't his place to interfere. But he could be here for Pinepaw, so that he did.
It would seem Morningskies, with their strange acuteness and eyes always hidden by white veil, had been watching. The golden specter paused as the sounds of the river grew steadily near, drizzling in sound across their ears, and turned to address them all in their eerie monotone voice sounding lilting, hard to place the tone and mood,
" Spread out from here. You can go down by the river but do not cross it. Come back when you have at least one piece of prey each. "
There was always a sort of command in Morningskies' voice, as did Lionstar. One could only guess where they got it from considering Loonwhisker. A mere moment of pause to ensure their orders were obeyed, the pale tabby was already seeming to phase into the atmosphere. Strange cat.
Lionstar | Clan Camp
The curtness of her reply alerted the great leader to the fact that whoever was coming was of some importance. His golden gaze remained heavy upon her face a moment before turning slowly with the tilt of his cranium back to it's original place facing camp, watching over it as his large ears listened acutely to her words. Thought flickered in those molten eyes but it didn't fall from his tongue in understandable words. He didn't need to look at Breezedream to not the slight change in her voice, know she was saying something important- crystalline, a clarity in her moment of regular cloudiness. Such had him making a short humming noise in his throat. As the conversation changed, his head did not turn to her for a moment more, but slowly looked to her again. The tension of his visage was lessened, appearing calmer, perhaps a little tired, but laid-back to say the least,
" Indeed they are. Blooms of true love- a beautiful thing to many. "
There was slight amusement to his tone as he humored her words,
" Red upon red, a curious combination of blush pigments. "
Lionstar, as practical as always, simply commented with an air of humorous thoughtfulness,
" I have only spoken with a fox once, watched far many more. As far as I am aware they only like flowers that they can eat. As a fashion statement or cultural community like us- I don't assume they have interest in. A curious thought though, although I would be wary of approaching one just to ask. "
He snorted briefly through his nose, eyeing Breezedream wryly. He trusted her immensely- but she was sometimes led into quite interesting situations when she was curious. Not that she would do anything stupid, but a fox wasn't exactly the easiest to connect with. Their language was easier than badger to try to communicate with, but overall translations were very difficult to express. All one could really say was exchanging names and landmarks- which every species had different names for, unfortunately- and deciphering dangers or non threats. Ironically, Lionstar's conversation with a fox had been just because he was a curious apprentice who happened upon one in the territory at the border. A strange gargle of words between the two, but it was an experience nonetheless, and he got better language from it anyway.

(( pinepaw still needs a mentor ^^ good afternoon, everyone! & am, i'll respond to the other rp soon o; muse was off during the weekend ))
w i n d b l o s s o m & p i n e p a w - - clan territory "Of- of course," Pinepaw mumbled, seemingly drawing himself up until he had some amount of confidence in himself. It didn't always happen, but he could pull himself together impressively at times...not that Windblossom ever noticed. The little blossoms on the back of his neck quietly itched in their own special way as he found himself, took a deep breath-
He'd be fine for now. All he had to do was get some prey and at least Woodpeckerpaw and maybe Gildedtongue would be proud.
Despite the change, he kept as quiet as ever- only a dip of his head to Morningskies and he was off.
His mother watched him go, a peculiar expression in her eye- but dismissing her concerns as nothing, she purred and nudged Gildedtongue once more before heading off to find her own piece of prey. It was remarkably easy- prey seemed to come easily to them today, and as she returned with a squirrel that had attempted to flee, it seemed like everyone else wasn't far behind.
She couldn't help but notice Pinepaw's proud posture when he came back with a small piece of prey in his jaws just a bit after the rest gathered, and she stopped the sigh from pouring out of her. The pointed tom seemed cheerful as he showed his catch to Woodpeckerpaw- she could just hear a quiet "Look!" after he set his prey down- but she wouldn't comment. There were better things to do.
b r e e z e d r e a m -- camp --> clan territory With the conversation safely out of the way, Breezedream seemed to relax even more, the minuscule tension in her bones seeping out. He had gotten the message- her job was done, at least for now. Her mouth curled into a toothy grin, bright and airy, and the tabby lounged without a care in the world on the branch she laid on.
"I'm sure I could speak to a fox," she mused, eyes open wide with the wonder at the possibility. "I've heard that some like to speak in riddles, although I'm not quite sure how good they would be...." Breezedream trailed off for a long moment before turning her gaze to Lionstar.
"Perhaps I should go speak to one," the molly chirped. "I think there's one near the border now- perhaps they'd like to talk to me..."
As if that had decided what she would do for the day, she abruptly left Lionstar, elegantly making her way off of the tree and out of camp. Many gave her odd looks as she passed, but she paid them no mind.
She was off to visit a fox.
Of course, it wasn't a sensible thing to do. Despite their courtesy, some were still hostile and it was dangerous to go alone, especially with as young as she was- a fox would surely attack if they were getting annoyed. They had reputations of being...easily irritable.
Breezedream had a knack for letting those feelings rise in others.
Utterly unconcerned for her own safety, however, she strode on- at a quick pace until she stopped near the border- right in front of a mother and her two children blinking owlishly at her.
"Hello," she chirped breezily in the fox tongue, blinking with the air of a naive and unknowing cat. In many ways, she was still too...immature for her own good.
Patiently, Breezedream waited for a response.
