A perilous journey, Duck's fur began to prickle at those words. The young tom had pretty much lived his entire life in the safety of the barn, completely unaware of the dangers that lurked outside.

All the comotion inside of the barn had stirred yet another loner, who had hid herself in the rafters to rest. Lilac's large ears were flat against her head as she examined all of the strangers inside of the barn below her. The short hair on her back bristled up, and her tail thrashed with anxiety. What were so many cats doing here? And why were the kits and Duck talking to them? Sneaking across the rafters, she stared down at them with her gleaming eyes showing in the darkness of the rafters. Should she go down? They didn't seem to be attacking...
The molly made her way to the edge of the rafter, hopping down noiselessly onto one of the balcony-like sections filled with hay bales. Her tail bristled and thrashed with anxiety and aggression. "Duck!" She hissed out anxiously, loud enough for him and (probably the clan cats nearby) to hear. She was on the edge of the second floor area, her haunches raised in aggression. Her belly looked full, like one of a nearly due pregnant queen.

Icefire rolled her eyes in frustration as she heard the hiss. "We're not going to hurt anyone!" she called out. "We just need a place to stay. The flood is ravaging our path right now. We'll die if we venture out there now."

Lilac's eyes seemed to show a little relief as the other barn cats looked her way, her shoulders lowering a little bit. However, she still kept her hostile stance, her body prepared for a fight despite the obvious fear in her face. What were these cats doing in their home? Her long legs trembled as she stared at the cats below, her eyes locking onto the three loners who she knew. She gestured with her head and a twitch of her whiskers, wordlessly asking what was going on.
The queen was known to be paranoid and terrified of strangers, she had hissed at every single loner in the barn for weeks before she warmed up to them. She was clearly stressed out by the situation that was unfolding beneath her.
At the call of the clan cat, Lilac's legs trembled in anxiety as she shifted to an aggressive stance, her haunches raised higher and her ears pressed against her head. "Well choose somewhere else! Get out!" The agitated queen practically yowled, looking at the other loners for support with a terrified glance.

( Hey guys, Shellsong just joined the rp! c: Just so you know they're not randomly here. )
"Look, everyone's coming." Nightglisten said flatly. "We don't need to search."
"Is he always like this?" Ashtail mumbled to Wildmist, glancing at her from where he sat on the other side of his brother. He's always heard tales of Nightpaw of PineClan, the cat who Nightglisten had been, being brave and rather temperamental. He didn't expect him to act so unenthusiastic about an adventure.
Icefrost moved nearby Icefire, giving the she-cat a wary glance before looking p at the new loner. "I'll speak for CedarClan as well. We're on a long journey and there's a storm outside, where just here for shelter!"

Lilac listened to Gorse with clear uncertainty, her stance only relaxing the slightest bit as he spoke. "...You know them?" She growled out. She was expecting an attack, but in her mind playing along with these wild smelling cats might make them less likely to hurt her- or the other barn cats. The anxious queen's claws sheathed, and with a large amount of hesitation she jumped off of the balcony, landing on the ground floor in a crouch, close to the door where Athena and Aspen sat. As she landed, it became clear she had a good reason to be paranoid- she was indeed pregnant, and looked so far along that kits could come any day now. No queen would want masses of strangers around her at such a vulnerable time. Her thrashing tail didn't calm as she looked to Athena and Aspen for support. She was the most hostile for certain. Only Gorse's interruption had stopped her from doing something rash.

Icefire sighed. "Listen, we get it okay? OakClan isn't very trusting of newcomers either, because one tried to kill all of us." she told Lilac. "All we want is a place to stay, and we'll leave as soon as the flood dies out." she explained. She then turned to face Gorse. "Yes, CedarClan is new. They were a tribe before."

Staring at the wild cat who spoke to her, Lilac's tail thrashed rapidly. "And all I would like is for you to leave." She retorted, before realizing that it was probably not the best idea to enrage these cats. Her ears flattened once again, her position turning more to an uneasy and stressed crouch. Lilac sighed as no clear support came from the other two barn cats. It seemed she was outnumbered with her fears of these cats. Her tail continued twitching uneasily as she felt as if all eyes were on her, and her ears were still low against her head. Looking over towards the cats Gorse introduced as his siblings, she regarded them with a small nod, which was more than she would usually give. But, well... She should be at least slightly hospitable to Gorse's family. He had always been kind to her despite her harshness and anxiety.
Lilac appreciated Gorse's attempt at calming her, but her short fur was still bristling on her spine. "Easier said than done while surrounded by these cats." She hissed under her breath, her left paw rising and lowering against the floor in a pawing, anxious tic. "They smell awful." Stressed was an understatement, her stomach felt like it was swirling.

Ashtail gave a small, startled laugh at the statement from Wildmist, before focusing his eyes on Lilac. His smile vanished as Lilac's name was mentioned, and he gave the cat a double take. It was odd how his previous, slightly nervous, but friendly attitude faded. Now the slim tom cat looked guilty. It was eerie seeing this cat, who had rather similar form, with her tall ears, to his mate back at PineClan, not to mention his mate was named Lilactail.
Nightglisten noticed the change and bent his face forwards slightly to look up into his brother's face, but couldn't make it out. Having had never met his brother's mate, this was to be expected.
Ashtail shook his head slightly as if to clear his mind. This was insane. This cat was definitely not his mate. But the guilt at leaving her for this journey, about two moons ago, was torturing him, especially because she had been expecting his kits when he left.
"Look, w-we really aren't going to do anything, honest." Ashtail said, taking a step forwards and slightly stammering in his speech. "We have a long and-"
"Periwous." Froggy pointed out.
"Very, very hard journey before us into the mountains. My family is in danger there... I don't think it's on anyone's mind to start trouble." He finished, smiling in spite of himself at the kit's words.

Lilac felt a pair of eyes practically burning into her, and turned her long and angular face toward Ashtail, not appreciating how he stared at her before beginning to speak. Her tail continued to thrash, her eyes narrowed and pupiled slitted. She didn't like how this tom was looking at her at all. "Just don't bother me." She spat, still agitated as she stayed in an uneasy and protective stance. "And don't steal anything."

Froggy tumbled over onto his back, while Lilypad yawned and curled up in some hay nearby. The little ginger tom soon was on his feet and trotted closer to Lilac. "Don't worry, if they try to steal I can fight." He said confidently.
"Your a valiant protector." Ashtail added with a wary grin at the small kit's comment. Nightglisten simple huffed and stretched out his front legs, the large tom cat still just wishing for some sleep, and deciding to at least sit down in a more comfortable place. He moved away from Wildmist and his brother to some hay at the farther side, and sat down on a small pile to watched the others from.
"If you don't bother us we won't bother you." Shiverpelt said quietly, wrapping her tail tightly around herself.

Icefrost let out a long sigh and asked. "I think we'll try an stay only the night. And what possibly could we steal?"

Lilac couldnt help but release an amused noise at Froggy's declaration, giving him a lick on the top of his head. She always had a soft spot for kits, and she knew these little ones well. "My, you are a very brave little guard." The purebred oriental shorthair spoke carefully, her massive ears raising a bit as she allowed herself to focus on the small kit in front of her for a second. For a small moment, she actually looked content. Looking back at the group of cats, her ears flattened back down, and her previously calming tail flared once again. "Well, I've already been bothered by you, obviously." She took a step forward. placing a paw near Froggy protectively. Her gaze snapping to Icefrost, she glared at the cat with a knowing glint in her eye. She wasn't the best at not being an agitator.

Lilac grumbled loudly under her breath as Gorse continued trying to calm her down, flicking her tail rapidly back and forth. Standing up, she turned to face the way she usually got up to the second floor, a large stack of hay bales, and then looked over at Gorse. "If I get disturbed again, I'm going to bat someone over the head." She growled softly. "I swear."

Icefire rolled her eyes. "It's not like any of us are afraid to fight her." she grumbled to herself while looking for an unoccupied place to rest.

"It's not like any of us want to fight her either." Ashtail mumbled quietly in response Icefire, giving her a small smile as he began to twirl in circles in the hay, soon sitting down in it.
"We should rest now." Nightglisten proclaimed from where he sat with his eyes closed.

(Hi!)
Duck looked a little disappointed when he saw cats begin to settle down as he still had so many questions to ask them. He reluctantly lay down but made sure to stay within a close proximity to the newcomers. The young grey tom had always led a fairly uncomplicated and effortless life, the thought of adventure made his heart race.
