Sand chill 1x1. more info here. idk. i'll edit soon enough
two clans are at war. emberclan and rainclan have been battling for longer than many cats but the oldest of elders can remember, with no end in sight. these large clans use many underhanded or cruel tactics to try and one-up the other- and, for the first time, emberclan is sending an in-case-of-emergency spy that the other clan cannot suspect. the spy is an expecting queen. wounded willingly by their own clanmates, they "flee" to the other clan for safety. given shelter and care (and a little bit of time), they find that....maybe this isn't as bad as a clan as they expected. maybe they end up turning to their side- but that's for time to decide. with a medicine cat checking up on them and subtly asking questions about emberclan, avoiding telling too much is a trouble, too. what do they do?
rainclan allegiances note: there are more cats than shown here. these are pretty large clans. more warriors and apprentices than shown.

hollowstep & emberclan.
Pain was a constant.
Hollowstep could only stand still as the warriors of her clan attacked her as if they were in a battle. In the middle of their territory and away from the camp, she could only be glad that no kits or apprentices were there to see.
"Keep going," their leader- Sunstar, their hope in these times- snapped at the warriors. The brown tabby queen (and wasn't that a shocker? she had never expected to become a queen, but she was now, and now she was going to become their first successful spy and she was going to kill them if they hurt her kits) hissed at her fellow Clanmates when they hit too deep, blood dripping onto the ground. "They need to buy it. Hollowstep, stay still and don't harm them. You're useful, but they're even better. They can fight."
I can fight too, her mind whispered, quiet and venomous. Queens have been known to be ferocious. Don't count me out now. But despite her heart telling her to strike back, she stood tall, hissed at her attackers (but they were friends and family too), and tried not to fall from the pain. She was an EmberClan cat, she was strong, and she could take this.
"Stop," Sunstar said frostily, as if the situation was no more than prey being passed around, and Hollowstep growled as the warriors accompanying them out there stepped back. "Hollowstep." Her head jerked towards him, even with her major annoyance at him (hatred? no, he was her leader) screaming at her to snap at him. She stayed quiet. "Remember what you're tasked to do. Get information to us in any way possible if there is to be a major attack or assassination or....anything major. Use your discretion to decide what needs to be told to us. Do not give any information to them about our movements, but give off the hurt queen feeling for as long as you can. RainClan cats are soft, weak, and they'll take it. Go." He turned and moved back into the forest, and suddenly she was alone, bleeding, and her kits were hopefully unharmed.
She hissed quietly in that direction so he couldn't hear her anger before turning and starting to limp towards their border.
RainClan. Their sworn enemy from something that many didn't remember, not even her. They were monsters, even if they were soft- her two brothers had been killed by them, and they were the cause of all of their problems. Kits grew up to be jaded, battle-hardened cats because of what they did. Hollowstep growled softly, remembering it, before finally making it to their much-disputed border. The forest thinned out and approached rolling hills and shrubland, something she couldn't understand- why would they ever want to stay in the open? Trees protected you. She'd have to tone that opinion down, though. She was going to become a RainClan cat, however disgusting that thought was.
And this really did hurt. They had done a number on her- it would leave scars, and Sunstar had not told them to stop until it would severely halt her walking if they had gone any further. There was a good chance they had hurt her kits, too, and that scared her to death because they were her clanmates, and the kits inside of her were their clanmates too, and this was so wrong. But Hollowstep was nothing if not a devoted EmberClan cat, and so she trekked on into the hills, waiting for a patrol to find her as she lost blood.
"Someone? Anyone? Help, please, I'm hurt," she called out, pain clear in her voice. It was getting much harder to walk uphill, and she had to sit down when she felt like she would fall otherwise. "Help," she said, softer this time. She could see cats but didn't know what they would do- but blood was in the air, and her pain was clear. They had to help a queen in need.

rivernose & tidestrike & birdpaw .. rainclan's border with emberclan .
A patrol of three felines strolled along a too familiar border, one that the RainClan members shared with their complete polar opposite enemies, EmberClan. Not too long ago, Kestrelheart had changed the times of border patrols; they were to only go when EmberClan cats weren't on their usual dawn and dusk patrols, so the time increments were extremely different.
Leading the patrol was a dark grey tabby tom, his pelt sleek and muscles appearing lean. He bounded through the hill's soft, lush green grass in silence as he kept his ears perked for intruders. Some said that EmberClan was looking to steal prey, possibly land from his fellow clan.
Behind the tom was Rivernose, a black she-cat with her apprentice, Birdpaw. The two didn't exactly get along and were bickering. "It's not my fault that Daypelt FORGOT to eat her rabbit this morning!" the apprentice hissed loudly, tail lashing behind him furiously. He didn't like being accused by his mentor for she was rather harsh.
"How is it her fault, Birdpaw? Explain your hare-brained logic to me! There is no reason why you should eat before any queen, kit or elder does! You're not lugging around the extra weight!" the black feline spat, narrowing her eyes at Birdpaw. To say the least, she was disgusted by her apprentice's so-called manners.
While the two continued bickering, Tidestrike heard a soft voice calling out, not too far from his spot where he was marking the border. Lifting his maw to the air, the scent was recognizable, but not one he expecting. He was sure it was an EmberClan cat, though something was off.. Why did it smell similar to a nursery? Whipping around, the tabby let out a harsh growl, "Are you two done acting like kits? I didn't expect you to pick a fight with your own apprentice, Rivernose. That's low."
"Low?! Did you hear what he did? How can you defend him?"
"I'm not defending Birdpaw. He did the inexcusable, but that doesn't mean you need to stoop to his level. I'd rather dispute about this later; there's an enemy nearby."
"Enemy? Where? I wanna try and take 'em down!" Birdpaw squealed, eyes lighting up.
Rolling his eyes, Tidestrike turned to the black she-cat. "I think it's a queen.. maybe a kit. Some kind of cat that goes into a nursery. All I heard was them asking for help, but I'm no--"
Cutting him off immediately, Rivernose's eyes popped. "A queen? Why are we still standing here?! Out of the way!" The warrior ran past her apprentice and fellow denmate, hurrying towards the scent.
"So.. Tidestrike; did you not smell blood or something?" Birdpaw added, staring dully at the dark tom.
Soon enough, Rivernose came upon a bloodied, weak feline. She had EmberClan's vile scent, but she didn't care. It was clear that she was losing blood quickly and if they didn't act fast enough, a dead queen would be on their territory. EmberClan could blame them for killing a queen. The sight before her was horrifying, to put it lightly. "Oh, dear StarClan! Tidestrike! Birdpaw! Come here now!" she screeched, eyes widing in bewilderment. "Oh, my.. What's your name? I don't mean to frighten you, but can you cross the border for me? My clanmates and I will help you get back to our camp."
Within moments after hearing Rivernose's screech, the two toms arrived, their eyes falling upon the poor queen. "What in StarClan's name happened to her?" Tidestrike asked, simply staring at Hollowstep.
"Do you think I know yet? She hasn't had a single moment to answer me!"
"And you said I was trouble.." Birdpaw meowed, rolling his eyes before stepping up to the border. "Do I need to head back to camp or something? You two can handle this, right?"
Smacking his tail across Birdpaw's maw, Tidestrike cleared his throat. "You must be from EmberClan, correct? What happened to you? Who hurt you?"

hollowstep & birdpaw .. the border
Seeing the cats come closer, Hollowstep seemed to wobble a bit before making sure she could at least sit down steadily.
Everything she did was painful- breathing hurt, and she was losing blood faster than she had thought. Had Sunstar not been careful enough? Her mind worried on and on about it until a stray thought, a disrespectful thought floated in- what if it was on purpose, and he didn't care if you died or not?
She growled softly at herself and flinched, not from the pain but at her own thoughts. EmberClan was her soul, her spirit, and the fire would still burn when she was in enemy territory- she had no right thinking such things about her leader. He was wise and just and he had led her Clan for so long that to think such things was revolting. It was traitorous, the queen knew, to even voice anything like that in her Clan. They were punished with swift justice and were set on the border, dead, as a message.
EmberClan is strong. We will not back down, even from a challenge within our borders. We will be victorious.
Pausing her thoughts, she flinched back when the three cats finally approached. Their scent screamed at her to fight them and, oh, how badly she wanted to, but she put on the image of a hurt, distressed queen and cowered before them. "Please," she whispered softly. "They- I had to run from camp. I can't walk well." She flinched again when the apprentice in front of her tossed his head and huffed, making her look away.
"This is a waste of my time," he grumbled, but stayed put, narrowing his eyes at the queen in front of him. The enemy was the enemy- but whatever. This was for the warriors to handle. He just wanted to go back to camp.
"My name is Hollowstep," she mumbled, voice breaking in her acting- slowly becoming less of an act as she was more and more desperate to make sure her kits were safe. "They attacked me when I criticized Sunstar and- and I barely managed to get away. I don't know if my kits are safe," she pleaded, utterly truthful, her tone nearly frantic with her panic for her unborn kits. They could be hurt and right now there was nothing being done about it and- and RainClan cats were the ones helping her. How strange was that? It was definitely something that needed... getting used to.
Getting to her feet with a noise of distress she managed to cross the border and approach them, staggering and struggling to stand still for long without falling. "I need help and I'm losing blood. I know- I know I'm an EmberClan cat, and you must hate me but-" Hollowstep flinched and nearly fell until the apprentice cursed under his breath and supported her, grumbling all the while. "Please."
Birdpaw rolled his eyes but kept her up, glaring at both warriors with him- especially Rivernose. "I guess we're taking her to camp because you two are a bunch of softies," he hissed quietly, helping her along. "I can go run back to camp and call for Feathercreek to help if you two help her. Or something."
"Thank you," the brown she-cat mumbled, putting some of her weight on him- these hills in front of her were daunting, and it would be a challenge to get to wherever they were going. She would need the help of two fully grown warriors to keep going, even though some of the wounds were bleeding slowly instead of rapidly now. Hollowstep desperately needed aid.

tidestrike & rivernose - hollowstep & birdpaw .. the border
Tidestrike was not pleased with Birdpaw's big mouth, to say the least. He now understood why Rivernose got into such a fight with the young tom and would be sure to have a word about it with Kestrelheart or maybe Fogstar. Turning towards the EmberClan queen, he kept his distance for now. If he could have crossed the border to help her, he would have; unfortunately, he didn't want to receive backlash from his superiors. "Okay, Hollowstep.. I'm Tidestrike, the she-cat next to me is Rivernose, and the annoying, disobeying little ball of fur is Birdpaw," he meowed, introducing his clanmates. "We're from RainClan, obviously."
Rivernose immediately ran to Hollowstep's side, sniffing the EmberClan cat for any signs of injuries. She hardly knew anything about medicine, but things didn't look good at all. All they could do was hope that Feathercreek had something to heal her or, if circumstances permitted, save her from dying. "Shut up, Birdpaw. Go get Feathercreek, we'll discuss your punishment later," the feline growled at her apprentice, shooting a glare at him. "We would never let a queen suffer injuries from their own clanmates; it's shameful that they could do such a thing to someone who is able to carry kits."
After his mentor's harsh words, Birdpaw gave another roll of his eyes and a light hiss before racing off to RainClan's camp, still in the same sour mood as before. His mission was to find Feathercreek as fast as possible.
"Rivernose and I will help you back to our camp. Do not be alarmed if you receive dirty looks or anything of the like. They may seem standoffish, but that should be the least of your concerns. We need to get you back to a safe place. Our medicine cat can surely help you," Tidestrike explained, padding over to Hollowstep and carefully pulling on her scruff. "Can you walk?"
"Tidestrike, we can put her between us and lift her up, if possible. She may be carrying kits, but I doubt she's that heavy. Even if she is, I'm willing to risk a bone or two for her," the black she-cat meowed, following the dark grey tabby. She stood in front of the EmberClan queen, in case she were to fall forward. "Hollowstep, why don't you put your paws on my back and try to hop on?"

hollowstep & tidestrike & rivernose .. the border
Hollowstep shifted uncomfortably when the two warriors got even closer to her- the RainClan stench was overpowering, but they definitely were there to help her (no matter how evil they were) when she was bleeding like this. It was doing better, but there was the ever-present chance of infection and the possibility of still bleeding out. It was a miracle that she was standing, really- she felt almost dazed, as if she could easily sink down to the ground and melt into nothing.
"I expect nothing but dirty looks from most of your cats," she mumbled, nearly falling over when Tidestrike pulled on her. She flinched ever so slightly but relaxed- she was safer now, at least by a bit, and she could trust them. Even if they were the enemy. Even if her mission was to become a spy. "I'm an EmberClan cat, after all. What most of them view as some kind of demon, right? It would be the same if the situation was flipped."
Wasn't that the truth, huh.
At Rivernose's idea she pondered it, wobbling on her feet. Even with her kits, she was light for a she-cat- a bit underweight because of the food shortages they had when she had grown up, and because she was just light in general- so it seemed like it would work reasonably well. "Alright," Hollowstep murmured, wincing when a cut that had scabbed over momentarily ripped again because of her movements. "I'm sorry if I bleed on you, Rivernose, but I should be light enough to carry."
Eyeing the she-cat in front of her she managed to get on- with a bit of help, but she was eventually on Rivernose without the risk of falling. "Oh, StarClan, I'm bleeding on you," she muttered, a small groan following with both annoyance and pain. "I'm so sorry. But, um. Thank you. I can't say that I....that I expected any help."
It sort of....shamed her a bit, to think that she had both doubted Sunstar and the decency of any cat, even RainClan. On one paw, she should have never doubted him in the first place- but before she saw that the incoming patrol was worried about her, she had nearly panicked because what if her kits were hurt by them, too? She and her unborn kits would have died, and her mission would have failed.
She was a bit of a bad excuse for an EmberClan cat, really.
But she was getting more exhausted by the second and it was an effort to keep herself awake, so Hollowstep shoved her mind away from useless pondering and kept her eyes at least a bit open, both to watch where they went and to make sure she didn't fall asleep. Falling asleep was dangerous, especially like this.
