Crumpledtail // bottom of camp The voice that called out in the rain gained the attention of the handsome red agouti tomcat. Turning his cranium so tipped with glittering dewdrops towards the source, the masculine offered a bright smile in the rain towards his conversation starter. Studying her with some kind of friendly appreciation, his voice was mellow and encouraging, " Oh? But I find it quite refreshing out here in this rain. Cleanses the fur so I don't have to! Of course, my fur doesn't get easily matted anyway. " He paused, looking out into the distance that was marred by rain mist, before peering back at her. His expression was bright, his face young and energetic, " Ah, but I suppose you're correct on the cold part. " Standing from his position, the russet masculine's hide shimmered with coarse rain as Crumpledtail approached Silverwind with a genial tip of his head, misshapen tail waving lightly in his regular pride. Settling a polite distance from her, he flashed another show-stopping smile, " Do you mind if I sit here? I was planning on being in the rain soon anyway because of patrols, but so far I haven't heard any be called. " Pausing to raise his paw to his maw to lap clean of its water, Crumpledtail kept bright golden eyes upon her, " So, have anything planned for today? "
Silentwind jumped as he sat near her, trying to flatten her bushed-up fur as she looked at the calm tom. His gaze unsettled her, but she kept it level with her own slightly eerie blue one. Shuffling around to position herself, she then answered his questions briefly as possible. "No, I don't. I'm not planning anything currently besides staying out of the rain." The she-cat replied promptly, not wasting any time with being genial or kind and instead choosing to talk quickly. Scolding herself for starting this meaningless conversation in the first place, she straightened her back and tried not to act awkward as always during a conversation. "I personally do not like the rain, it messes up my fur." Silentwind added, trying not to be vain and wincing once the words slipped out of her mouth icily. Inwardly sighing, she knew the effects of a bad impression could be long-lasting. It was annoying to clean her fur after the rain, that was the only reason why she disliked that wetness. Jumping once again when more raindrops hit her from the tree, she flinched away and ducked the next round of drops that fell from the leaves.

Vixenyowl // top of camp A shift in scents and a shuffle of paws against rock caught the young warrior's attention, prompting a turn of her vibrantly-decorated cranium to scrutinize the one who had travelled all the way up the rocky slope. Seeing it was only Suncloud, her warm golden gaze lost its brief narrow of suspicion. Now, she blinked with an almost innocent amicability, a small smile toying at her maw. Seeing the prey in his maw reminded her of her own hunger. Alas, she wouldn't take anything from the pile until the rest of the clan was fed first- besides, she was waiting for patrol anyway. That's what father taught her. It looked better to do that, anyway.
Vixenyowl didnt seem to mind the new company, but the flame of her eye and the passion of her heart had her working her jaw, throat tightening and relaxing although no sounds permeated the air. How she wished to talk, to interact, to show a brightness of the sun in all these rainy gloom. Well, no time like the present. Delicately twisting her copper, gold-splattered cranium towards her fellow warrior, her darkly-decorated maw curled into a welcoming smile, golden gaze bright and warm like honey,
" Hello, Suncloud~ "
She paused a moment, before a soft laugh briefly puffed from her,
" Ah- I wish I could say its a good day, but... "
One of her red paws gestured to the distance above her head, indicating the rain. She restrained herself from going straight into hard conversation. Instead, Vixenyowl tread lightly, her brightness tempered by self-control,
" We'll get some fresh prey soon, on patrol. Are you going on it? "
A question asked with genuine curiosity, her golden eyes flickering to Suncloud's prey and back to his face.
Suncloud gave a timid smile to the golden eyed She-cat and stopped his qrooming, though his fur was still slathered with mud, staining hos white underbelly. He was relived when her disdainful look turned to one of happiness, but he still felt uneasy. "Not a very pleasant day at all." He responded, trying to sound light and joyful as she did. "rain and mud just isn't my thing. I mean, just look at me!" He joked pointing out his usually well groomed and fluffy pelt, that was now matted with mud and droopping off his large frame, making him appear sad and angry. He was feeling more comfortable now with their small talk. It didn't feel as if she was judging him for his every word anymore. "yeah, I'll be on the hunting patrol." He answered honesty. "Thought I'd do something productive for once." He chuffed at himself and decided to carry on the conversation by drawing the attention away from himself, "are you?" He asked, hoping the copper warrior find him uninteresting due to his bland question.

[ Ooc: ] I had a question what does Vixenyowl's sexuality mean?
[ Rp: ] [ No problem! Biromantic means she can have emotional feelings for male or female felines. Demisexual means she will not participate in any physicality without a very strong, long-lasting emotional connection to said feline- for example, if she were to ever have kits, she would need to have a mate together with her for a long period of time before she agreed to kits. Does that help at all? c: ]

ROLEPLAY
Brushstar & Yarrowsplinter // Leader's den The rain that fell in steady mist was no different from yesterday, or the day before that, or the week before that, or the month before that. They had let up not at all. To say the clan was fearful was an understatement. No rain had lasted this long- no summer so scorching, no winter so frigid, no prey so little. It didnt help that currently the leader of Tempestclan itself was curled within the cavern of her den, soft breaths rattling and wheezing in her sloping chest. One could tell she was awake in the physical sense, as her dull amber eyes were cracked open in the slightest to stare forward over her aged, dull paws. But, the matte sheen to her gaze and its aimless fixation on nothing proclaimed there was little awareness of her surroundings. Every once in a while, long, slender toes reached out from the shadows to gently press with practiced ease upon the calico leader's crushed-curl fur, blue and green eyes narrowed in a wrinkled, set face. The voice from his maw was soft, " How do you feel, Brushstar? " Ever so slightly, there was a twitch of a smile to the leader's old maw. Slowly, the dull head on aged paws turned towards the medicine cat, to their concerned expression. Brushstar's tail was gentle on her wrinkled shoulder, the old voice curling forth softly, " I've been better, dear. " A simple pause, " Soon, you will not have to spend your days in here. " The medicine cat only frowned softly, giving a fond look with his eyes at the calico tail that gently ruffled across his ears.
Cougargrowl // Bottom of camp The hulk of beast feline was not immediately near to his family. Instead, the cream-coated masculine lay much like a lounging lion at the bottom of the rocky face Tempestclan called home. There was enough foliage that he could be sheltered if he wished to be, but the rain had never bothered the experienced warrior before. Still, the constant of it worried him. It was no secret that the clan believed such rains were caused by some bad fortune, and such had induced Tempest's wrath from beyond the grave. While he couldn't call himself a particularly religious feline, Cougargrowl couldn't ignore that this had never happened before, and the clan was going to suffer for it. His pale mint gaze raised slowly from where they had been patiently watching over the cats who milled about this rainy afternoon, focusing on two dark figures in particular. His mate, and his daughter. Angels he never wanted anything to come to.
Perhaps he would form a hunting patrol soon enough.
Sparrowchirp & Foggypaw // fresh-kill pile The scar-clad, nimble feline did not have as much difficulty as he used to walking. However, the indents and scar tissue of his skin had been acting up in the humid, rain-wet atmosphere that cooled significantly at night. More often then not, he was forced to stay behind in the warrior's den an extra few minutes behind every else just to get his injured muscles time enough to work and move like a regular cat's. Unless he needed to do anything else, Sparrowchirp mostly limped for his own benefit, although the scars no longer caused him any real pain or stiffness. With rain like this and without a patrol called yet, he would've stayed inside. However, how could he deny the sweet voice of his daughter, who had climbed up from the apprentice's den just to ask him to eat with her. " Alright, lets find a good piece. " In the misty gloom, he could pick out the pale coat and green eyes of his mate down below, watching them closely. The tabby male offered a brief smile even if Cougargrowl might not be able to see it, before continuing with his paws deep in dead body. The clan had taken to putting up branches with thick leaves overtop the kill pile to ensure the prey would not get so soggy. Even so, most things were still a little wet. But, Sparrowchirp wouldn't get anything less for his sweetheart, her blue-and-cream body wiggled between his front legs and chest as he worked through the pile, watching his paws with her big blue eyes. Darting forward suddenly, Foggypaw took over from underneath her father's sheltering body, " Oo! Papa- this one is big, and not so wet. We can share it- we can send some to Dad too. I could do it, you know, good exercise and all. " The rabbit stuffed in his daughter's face and the brightness of her voice made Sparrowchirp's smile turn amused, nodding his cranium with a relenting noise, " Yes, I suppose we could. Now, c'mere, I don't want to have to keep cleaning your ears off because you keep sitting in the rain all the time. "
Crumpledtail // bottom of camp One would expect such an appearance-oriented feline would not be sitting right out in the rain, yet, here he was. The bright ginger masculine allowed the rain to collect and fall off his thick fur, none of it hard enough to drench through to his skin. He leaned his elegant neck back, water droplets collected upon his face, as he gave a soft shake that dispelled the dew from his body. Honestly, he looked pretty damn hot. Then again, when was the well-manicured feline not looking good? Leveling his head again, bright yellow eyes twinkling like stars in the mist, he set to peering around camp.
Who was around to adventure with the dashing tomcat? So far, Crumpledtail could only glimpse Cougargrowl in the brush. What an aloof, mysterious hunk he was- too bad both he and Sparrowchirp gently turned down his offer of a polyamorous relationship together. Besides, the red-ticked masculine was always here for fun anyway. His glance to the other male at the bottom of the rocky ravine seemed to try to confirm what he himself was thinking- to go on patrol, or not? His elegant cranium turned to allow his bright eyes to peer at the leader's den to which he couldn't see anything within, but already knew both leader and medicine cat were there.
His muzzle wrinkled slightly. When would the old lady die? Not that he meant it in a bad way, but part of him wondered if all of this rain and torrent was because she needed to get a move on with the whole dying thing.
Vixenyowl // top of camp Unlike some of her clanmates, the deputy's child found perch at the very top of the rocky face Tempestclan dwelled in. Looking over the tops of the trees, down at the constellations of her clanmates in dens or out eating or what have you, she quite honestly felt like a queen dwelling over her domain. With her battle training and hunting prowess, burning warm of personality, and attractive features, she wasn't all that far off from that. There was no real sourness when thinking about the current state of Tempestclan. Of course, she was irritated. Irritated that cats weren't doing work, weren't doing enough to help. Well, if it was in her paws, the bright sunny of her presence would only need to let off a few heat flares to convince cats to get up and running again. There was no sourness when she thought of Brushstar, either. An old cat, who had done a good job in their life, but now, their time was up. And that was the end of that for Vixenyowl.
Her sun-decorted clay-bark pelage shifted in her breaths, vibrant eyes burning through the grey of the steam of the rain pattering against the warm rocks under her. She definitely was up for some patrolling right now. Then again, the view above camp was quite beautiful, and Vixenyowl wouldn't mind another coming to join her. After all, these cats could be her own soon enough, if she worked hard enough. She did truly care, which was something at least.
[ Ooc: ]
[ Rp: ] Lilylighting paced the clearing, it seemed as the days went on the rain kept falling. It had been a consistent down pour for a few days now, The she cats head was spinning, there was so much to do but time is not on our side. She looked around the camp, searching for cats to put on a patrol to gather moss in hopes of clearing up some of the water that rippled at her feet. She looked down at the leaders den, Blushstar hasn't been looking so well. I hope she gets better soon, I hope everything gets better soon. She thought, her cream and golden brown coat was drenched. Tiny water droplets sat just on the surface, her joints ached and groaned with every paw step but that didn't stop this she cat, she walked over to the fresh kill pile; nodding to Froggypaw and Sparrowchirp in greeting. She rummage through the scrawny pile, only a few drenched voles lay lifeless on the ground, Shoot nothing is dry, She growled to herself. She turned to leave before something caught her eye, it was a mouse laying under a fat vole and to her surprise is was dry. She grabbed it smiling and headed over to her mother's den, she wanted to see if her mother was hungry before going out to gather supplies.
She almost lost her footing on a tiny pebble as she descended the landslide to get to the leaders den, she poked her head through the entrance and called softly, "Mother are you awake?" She mewed stepping into the den, is was dark and she didn't notice Yarrowsplinter hiding in the Shadows. She could barely see her mother's dwindling body, she padded over to her setting down the mouse right next to her mothers nest. She gazed at the dying she cat, her gaze filled with helplessness, pain and love, even though she is only her adoptive mother she loves her none the less.

PARTRIDGEPAW .. bottom of camp .. Since the sun had rose, Partridgepaw was up and at 'em. She wasn't fond of sleeping in at all, so the next best thing she could do was find her mentor, Crumpledtail. Wherever the tom was at, she was going to find him even if it took away all her energy for the day.
Little did she know how many floors of the camp she had searched for tall feline and came up empty, feeling a bit defeated once she reached the bottom of the camp. It wasn't wise to start at the top, that was for sure. Stretching out her sore hind legs, the damp-furred she-cat groaned in dismay as she spotted a familiar red ticked pelt. Was that.. Was that Crumpledtail?!
Her senses were coming back to her and she no longer felt exhausted, defeated for she had stumbled upon her one and only mentor. The cat she spent moons scouring the camp for was at the bottom of the camp this entire time. A flame of fury lit up in her small belly, leaving the silver patched tabby to let out another groan as she padded towards the warrior. Who knew finding Crumpledtail was so hard! I shouldn't have let Sleepyshade send me on a goose chase, she thought, rolling her muddy amber eyes irritably. She would have to remind herself of his lack of directions if she even needed something again.
Finally close enough to the tall, lean warrior, Partridgepaw yelled out to catch his attention, "Hey, Crumpledtail!"
Gasping to catch her breath, the long-furred apprentice crashed into the ground before the red colored tom before lifting her head up weakly. "There you are.. I've spent my entire morning looking for you!" she meowed, allowing her head to slump back into its former position. "Were you really down here the entire time?"

HOBBLESWAY .. warrior's den, top of camp .. Hardly awake, Hobblesway's seafoam green eyes were struggling to open. They were completely shut as he could hear the once wonderful sound of rain pattering outside the warrior's den. He truly wanted to stay curled up in his nest, sleep the rest of the day away and it was all thanks the rain. It was a common happening these days, which meant Tempest was upset with the clan. Whatever the ancestor was unnerved about, it wasn't going to end well even by default.
Digging his claws into his nest, the tom's eyes finally popped open as he did his best to keep them open. Carefully getting to his paws, he kept his left hind leg balanced behind him before limping out of the den. His face was hit by a misty rain which began pouring down on to his whiskers and maw. The rain was becoming a nuisance, though he couldn't help but think when it was going to end. It felt like the rains had been dragging on for moons, maybe even seasons now. Maybe it was best to keep his mind clear so he could focus on today and instead of contemplating all day long.
Hobbling out of the den's entrance, the tabby glanced around to see if any clanmates were nearby. His gaze fell upon Spottedtrout, who seemed to be watching the lazy Sleepyshade pad away from her. Tipping his head to one side, the warrior was curious about the two's history. But, of course, this wasn't the time to pry for answers to a problem that wasn't his. He quickly made eye contact with Spottedtrout, who mewed a curt greeting before turning away. She clearly wasn't in a good mood, so Hobblesway decided to leave her alone for the time-being.
The fact that he was so interested in another's dilemma made him think twice about speaking to her. He shook his head to remind himself that today was a day to focus, not to mess around and involve him in other's problems.

Hey guys!
ROLEPLAY
Brushstar & Yarrowsplinter // Leader's den The moment between the two close cats was broken by the soft voice of another. Withdrawing her calico tail from its gentle placement upon the Sphynx's cranium, the elderly leader slowly turned her head towards the source. A soft, fond smile rose to her face as the curly-furred feline recognized her adopted daughter, Lilylightning, coming closer with a gift of prey. The calico would not tell her that the leader barely had the appetite to eat once a day, let alone twice, as this gift would be. No, she loved her child too much for something like that. With creaking limbs that still held a ghost of the strength she had, Brushstar slowly pulled herself up to balance upon her front legs instead of collapsed, curled, in her nest. Her dull amber gaze was warm, " Lily~ Yes, I am awake. Its so good to see you. " Even in her age, the calico still had a steady voice, rasping with her exhaustion, but retaining her characteristic elegance. Her gaze slowly traveled her daughter- the helplessness in Lilylightning's eyes was not lost on the astute leader. Shifting again, the calico made moves to right herself, but Yarrowsplinter's spindly, hairless form curled out from the shadows to softly press long toes upon the leader's shoulder, cautioning with a shake of his head, " You'll waste your strength trying to get up- " It was a dwindling voice that came from the hairless, her voice getting quieter by the second as he spoke, at the look the calico gave him. Brushstar's smile was calm nonetheless, and she held her quiet sort of authority, " Then help me up. " There was a pregnant pause, before the hairless was shifting body under the calico, hoisting the leader up. Eventually, Brushstar was sitting straight up. After a few moments, she did not require Yarrowsplinter hold her any longer, and the hunched, slim figure held its own. Smiling kindly at Lilylightning, the leader purred softly, " How about you share that prey with me, and we can... catch up. "
Crumpledtail // bottom of camp Eyeing his new companion, there was a watchfulness to his bright yellow gaze, studying every movement she made. After her answer towards going on patrol, the male simply stayed quiet only a moment, eyes riveted and unblinking upon her with a sort of knowing expression, before he leaned back and clucked his tongue, looking out into the mist of rain, " I see... " It trailed, either like he was disappointed, or he had been planning to offer something for her enjoyment. What an odd little thing, he noted. Not that Crumpledtail minded- he was incredibly different himself. But, there was something kind of fantastic about that, isn't there? At the subject of fur, the masculine seemed to perk up, his loud, flamboyant voice sounding, " Oh! You know, if you work out you fur before you go out, then you won't get the water trapped in any knots. It slides right through. A lil' wet on the skin I suppose, but your fur looks very nice- ah, I'm jealous~ " His purr was warm, bright gaze eyeing her from sockets curled fro his smile. Waving his paw absently in the air, he continued, " But even if it did get wet, Im sure someone would help get you warm again- heck, I'd be blessed to be privy to that and help brush your fur out. Oh, I just love working with fur- ah, but, I've spoken too much. " The warrior seemed ready to apologize, with his small smile and soft hum, but the fluffy, wet body of his apprentice and her sharp words caught his attention. Whipping around to face Partridgepaw, his maw broke into a grin, a paw resting against his forehead in dramatics, " Oh, my precious apprentice, struck down by the inevitable and unnecessary inconvenience of camp! " Rushing towards her with a funny pout and a sparkle to his eye, his dark nose did genuinely give a little sniff- it looked to be all for the drama of the moment, like he was crying, but he really was checking to make sure she hadn't hurt herself or gotten sick. His voice was slightly apologetic in its warm softness, " Yes, I have been down here- " But the energy was right back a second later in a yell that echoed in camp, " ENJOYING THE RAIN! And with my lovely friend Silentwind, here. But, but! We were just discussing going on patrol soon. You wanna ask Harriersky with me? We could get some juicy stuff out here- a little waterlogged but however- I'm sure some cats would love to come with us. "
Vixenyowl // top of camp Watching her clanmate closely, her honey-gold eyes narrowed slightly to see the state he was in. How did he even manage to get that dirty? Giving a nod of her cranium and a small hum to show she was still listening as her critical eye roamed his body, her gaze eventually found his again,
" Yep, planning on going as soon as it's called. "
Hesitating briefly, her voice sounded less bold this time, a little softer, more sensitive,
" Ah, you've got a lot of fur there. I would be happy to help, if you wanted me to. "
It was a question with her gaze staring a little to the left of directly into his eyes, her voice crisp with a sense of comradeship, of pride, but a steady neutrality. Just a helping of a clanmate, was all it was. Looked good to be seen doing it in front of others, too, but, Suncloud really did have a lot of fur, most of it matted. Vixenyowl never shied away from getting dirty when she needed to, one of her good traits- she was never vain. Then again, he might not be so welcome to a cat so distant from his as she assisting in the cleansing of his fur, so her tongue made more words,
" Either way, the rain up here will wash some of that mud off. "
Vixenyowl didn't have any mud flecked to her skin- she was very good at scaling the ciffside, as she did frequently. Although her red-spice and darkly-decorated pelage stuck closer to her body, her flanks seen moving beneath her skin from the plaster of it. She didnt seem bothered by the rain while she was in it, but she would most certainly complain about it later when she was in a dry place and all she felt was cold and wet. Maybe, if her father wasn't busy, Harriersky would be willing to sit with her for a little while. She offered Suncloud a small, soft smile, a jab at being soothing and encouraging. Turning away to peer down at camp beneath her toes, she mused aloud,
" I do wish the rain would stop, though. "

PARTRIDGEPAW && CRUMPLEDTAIL .. bottom of camp .. Partridgepaw had failed to notice Silentwind, who Crumpledtail had been speaking with. She, unknowningly, had interrupted their conversation with her childish actions. Once she had a chance to speak with Silentwind, she would apologize to her. Despite the fact she interrupted their conversation, her mentor didn't seem upset with her at all. Shrugging her shoulders, Partridgepaw returned her attention to Crumpledtail, who was now at her side acting very dramatic.
It was amusing, she had to give him that. Letting out a snort, the feline was lying still and closed her eyes as if she was so exhausted that she was drained of energy. "Hmph. I can't believe I listened to Sleepyshade and started at the top of camp then came all the way down here! I wasted a lot of time and energy, you know," she rambled, somehow still irritated by the fact that she listened to a no good warrior for directions around camp. "But that doesn't mean I'm tired!"
"Enjoying the rain, huh? Never knew such a thing could be mutual," the silver patched tabby mewed sarcastically, lifting up one of her white paws and began grooming it. Her ears were swiveled towards the red ticked tom, doing her best to pay attention. As soon as he mentioned a patrol, the apprentice sprung to her paws, eyes lighting up. "FINALLY! Yes, yes, I'll tag along! I will even ask Harriersky myself if you want me to, Crumpledtail! Anything to get out of this boring place.. ANYTHING." [ ah, wow! enjoy your internship, Cold; hopefully it's fun. ]]

Silentwind shook her head wildly, trying to remember all of what Crumpledtail had just said. Racking her brain, she recalled various parts of the short conversation where she had barely said anything. Waving her tail nervously to Partridgepaw from the safe distance under the calming dry shade of the tree, she yawned. "Uhh... Yes. Exactly." Her carefully picked words answered at most every question she was asked, and she looked at the apprentice with a shaky smile. Her mind screamed to abandon ship, to stop talking. No! NO! Just leave calmly, and carry on. What in the name of spirits are you doing... Silentwind blocked out her enraged thoughts and kept a calm yet distant expression, shuffling around before she got up nervously. Shaking out her slightly fluffed up fur, she reminded herself that she started the conversation and it was her responsibility before bracing herself to pad out in the rain. Slowly making her way over, she squinted for the sake of it and joined the two cats. "A patrol would be wonderful, yes!" She agreed in the best fake happy tone she could muster, shivering against the cold rain. "Heh.. Oh my, this rain is quite chilly." The she-cat laughed lightly and tried to mask her displeasure at being out here like this with two other cats and actually talking with them! "Enjoying the rain, yes..." Her voice was a mere whisper as she said this to herself sarcastically but stopped once she came face to face with Crumpledtail and Partridgepaw. "When shall we leave on patrol? I'm sure many cats would be pleasured to join us." Okay, maybe the rain wasn't so bad. Crumpledtail was kind and courteous at least, making for a slightly more enjoyable outing should it happen. Being with a selfish, disrespectful, and rude cat would be worse anyways... Jerking herself away from her thoughts, Silentwind kept her calm expression plastered on her narrow and fox-like face as she listened. It was best to not talk anymore and waste her voice, she noted to herself. Shaking out her fur again and already feeling like it was waterlogged, she sent water droplets splashing everywhere. Why did her thin pelt hold so much rain that easily? It was a great bother to her all the time. Chuckling a bit to herself, Silentwind wondered how she got herself into such a predicament. Probably Crumpledtail's flamboyant and fast fashion of talking, but mostly her quiet conversation starter that she blurted out impulsively. It was her fault and she had to deal with it, the end.

Harriersky, Cougargrowl, & Hobblesway Harriersky would be lying if he said that things had been going smoothly, as of late. Saying that everything was going ‘according to plan’ was something he could only dream of, at this point; nothing but a distant longing for a phrase he greatly wished to say, but of which now felt dead and erroneous upon his tongue. It was all thanks to this simple... simple mistake; a divide of power, a wavering of favoritism… all thanks to her.
Lilylightning.
He supposed it wasn’t all that surprising, if he really thought about it. After all, the masses always did prefer a pretty face; one with bright eyes, and tender words, and the good nature to compliment it all. An annoyance, was what she was; an engorged tick upon his side that had grown fat on the benevolence of others, and drained him of his standing. Lately, the very sight of her had left him feeling sick- anemic with his wounded pride, and ever snowballing distaste- but until the right time came, he would have to grit his teeth to keep the bile from running free. In the end, Brushstar may prefer the she-cat- the one she called her very own daughter- but Harriersky wasn’t about to let a biased elder stir him, nor was he going to let some milksop competitor steal away what was inevitably his.
Power was his; this clan, in and of itself, was his, and he had great plans for it… plans that included his daughter, Vixenyowl.
Vixenyowl didn’t look much like him, he supposed. While his adventure loving daughter was all defined features and vivid colors, Harriersky was nothing but a blank slate of dark fur and stony eyes; eyes that he’d been teased over in his younger years. ‘Killer eyes,’ was a phrase his peers had often snickered over. Now, however, few were laughing; not now that he was deputy, and his rise to leadership was becoming a fast-approaching reality for he and the rest of his clan. Someday, the same would be said for Vixenyowl. He was to make sure that no one underestimated his flesh and blood- his one and only kin- the single she-cat he cherished above all else… but first, he had to wait; had to wait for that decrepit pile of bones, Brushstar, to finally bite the dust, and take what was coming to her.
He hated waiting, though.
Soon enough, soon enough… No need to be crude until then.
Yes, after all, Brushstar had done a good enough job, in her early years… However, his impatience made it hard not to take things personally, and in this case, he was finding himself particularly annoyed with how the she-cat seemed to cling onto her aging body like it was the only thing tethering her to this earth, which was- quite literally- exactly what was happening. Think him cruel for harboring such repugnant thoughts, but in the end, he’d much rather the elder pass up her position as leader soon, before she drove it into the ground with her senility later.
Until then, of course, he would have to keep himself busy.
“Cougargrowl!”
With his massive shoulders rolling in a prowl, and the yellow of his gaze fixed steadily upon his target, one would be lying if they said that Harriersky had looked even somewhat approachable just then. With his thick pelt slick with rain, his dark fur fell loosely against his figure- limply hugging it to showing off the curvature of his muscle, and the pallor of his scars, as one might display their proudest catch. His head, which was typically kept high and alert, now hung low against the storm’s continuous onslaught, and his broad, tabby face displayed a daunting scowl, cold enough to send any good kit scampering back to their mother’s warmth. In the end, however, this frightful look was only caused by the rain that had managed to slip it’s way into his eyes, and upon taking shelter with the aforementioned tom, Cougargrowl, the expression fell away, only to reveal another look that was equally as chilly.
“I’m forming a patrol,” the deputy stated as he shook out his waterlogged coat. Harriersky had a particular type of voice; one that made itself quite apparent, like a crack of distant thunder- low and rumbling, and threatening in it’s arrival. Now was no different as he addressed the warrior before him, his calculated gaze taking in every inch of rain-specked fur that the tom had to offer. “If I am correct in my observations,” he proceeded after a moment, “I’d say that you’re not up to anything in particular…” With a purposeful glance down at the feline’s lounging pose, he flicked his tail once. “So you will join me.”
Of course, that was just like him to say. Not a request- not even a hint; a simple order, with no questions asked.
“Follow.”
Turning on his heels, his long, talon-like claws scoring furrows through the dirt, the tom was off once more, into the rain, with his ears flicked back and away from the rain that lashed against his face. “Hobblesway!” He suddenly boomed, his voice a thunderbolt of noise in comparison to the murmuring of camp, and hiss of rain. Now, Hobblesway wasn’t his first choice when it came to forming a patrol. The tom was small, and his limp slowed him and everyone around him down, and especially when he was introduced into this sort of weather. His personality was something that Harriersky also found himself none too fond of, but that was another matter entirely, and not at all related. So obviously, it was a tad bit odd when Harriersky came bounding up to the tabby… odd, until you noticed who it was that the deputy was glaring at.
If there was one thing that Harriersky liked less than a slow cat, it was a lazy cat, and Sleepyshade was just that. Lazy, manipulative, utterly intolerable; the list could go on, but there was only so much time in the day. As for Spottedtrout… well, he didn’t like her all that much either. She was too soft, too emotional, and too... herself.
So Hobblesway it was.
“I’m forming a patrol,” the deputy stated, “and you’re coming.”
End of story.
