The she-cat tipped her head to the side but decided not to pursue the topic any longer. She simply nodded. "I understand. We all make mistakes." Her mistake had been getting ran over by a fawn while her crush had been watching. Ugh, she felt so stupid about it now.

Dovefoot felt her heart skip a beat at the tom's suggestion. She looked him in the eyes, a spark of heat returning underneath her pelt. "That would be great," she breathed, holding herself back from leaning forward and rubbing her head against him affectionately. Just her and Falconwing? She had never thought she'd ever hear such a suggestion. Maybe, just maybe, dreams could come true after all.

Just friends? Dovefoot felt her heart drop. She wanted to be more than friends so bad, but she soon realized that it would have to take time. Just because she had a crush on Falconwing didn't mean he automatically returned it. And maybe if she spent more and more time with him, something would happen...something would finally happen between the two of them. Smiling, she nodded. "Falconwing, I think we're already friends." Maybe even more one day. We could be mates, you and I, with our own kits and family. She had to stop herself right there, she was thinking too far ahead.

The she-cat purred as well. So badly did she want to say something about her feelings for the tom, but she held back, biting her tongue. What if she said something and it didn't work out the way she wanted it to? What if he wasn't even all that interested in her? An amusing thought then passed through her. Dovefoot wasn't sure if Bogfeather was in the den or not, but if the medicine cat was, Dovefoot could only imagine what the medicine cat would think with the two warriors pressed against one another speaking in soft tones to one another.

"Me too," she murmured faintly, looking right back into his eyes. Her heart skipped a few beats as she looked him over. He was just so handsome, just like his personality. "I also like y-" Dovefoot stopped herself. She felt her eyes go round with embarrassment and something else. Was it fear? Fear of having almost gave out her secret crush on him? The gray she-cat looked away, unsure of how to fix her mistake.

Dovefoot still couldn't look at him. Not even after he wrapped his tail tighter around her and gave a purr. Was he laughing about her mistake? What was going through the deputy's mind right now? So many negative thoughts were prancing about in her mind until she finally registered what Falconwing had said. 'The same to you,' he had mewed. Dovefoot thought that she wouldn't be able to breathe for a moment. Had she heard him right? Slowly Dovefoot looked at him, hope gleaming in her green eyes."Y-you like me...?" Dovefoot whispered, her voice wavering with uncertainty, hope, and affection.

Dovefoot wasn't sure if she was awake or if she was dreaming. She stared deep into Falconwing's eyes; this wasn't a dream. This was reality. It had been so long since she had dreamed about being the deputy's mate, to stand by his side with a family, and now it seemed to finally be coming true. The she-cat choked out a purr as she pressed her muzzle into Falconwing's shoulder. "I love you too, Falconwing. I have for a long time," she admitted in a voice that sounded breathless as if she had been running for miles without stopping, and finally she was getting to stop.

This was something Dovefoot had imagined for so long, and now, finally, it was happening. Her purrs were so loud they practically vibrated her whole body as she snuggled against Falconwing. "I can say the same about you," she mewed gently, leaning forward to lick the deputy's cheek. Never before had she felt so happy just curled up here beside Falconwing, the deputy of the Clan, and not only that, but her mate.

Still purring just as loud Dovefoot began to groom him. She licked over his cheek a few more times before drifting down to his neck and shoulders. Just sitting there sharing tongues with the tom made her forget about her injuries and how she was stuck in Bogfeather's den.

In the middle of grooming her new mate Dovefoot didn't notice Bogfeather walking into her den. When the medicine cat spoke up, Dovefoot nearly jumped out of her own skin. She was half way between sitting and standing, her tail bushed out somewhat. She looked at the medicine cat with a mixture of fright, embarrassment, and guilt. "Uh...well..." The gray she-cat turned to look at Falconwing, a slightly apologetic smile coming over her muzzle.

Dovefoot let out a relieved sigh when Falconwing answered for her. She couldn't help but press even closer against him, taking in his warm presence and calming scent. She then looked back to Bogfeather, nodding as the medicine cat went on about her injury. No more big hunts or battles? A shaky walk? Dovefoot was used to her slight limp, but it being worse...she had expected something like this, but not permanent. "I understand, Bogfeather," she mewed, somewhat crestfallen. No matter who the cat was it was bound to be hard when hearing that they couldn't do as much as they used to. Dovefoot could still be a warrior, but she wondered just how useful she'd be to the Clan as a warrior now.

Falconwing teared up when he heard this. No more...Battles with her? He looked at Dovefoot, he seemed to guess what she was thinking by her expression. He pressed himself against her. "Remember you'll always be important to the clan." He whispered sweetly in her ear, "And me."

Bogfeather frowned with sadness. "I'm so sorry. You'll still be able to hunt, and do some battles." She mewed, trying to cheer the she cat up.

Still being able to hunt and battle sometimes was still good, but she wouldn't be able to always be there for her Clan. She felt comforted with Falconwing at her side, albeit she was still a bit crestfallen from the news. Dovefoot felt a lot better though. As long as she could still do some things then that's what mattered. Before she could even stop herself, though, she asked, "Would my permanent injury affect anything if I were to have kits?" It was a random thought really, one that came to her off the top of her mind. Now that she had a mate having kits was plausible, and she had always wanted a few litters of her own...

A sigh of relief slipped from Dovefoot. She smiled at Bogfeather and nuzzled Falconwing. Even if she couldn't be a fully functioning warrior anymore, she could at least be of use to the Clan by providing new life. "StarClan guides me well," she mewed with a purr.
