Sunfall poked his head into the apprentice's den, searching for Sagepaw.
Wildheart was hunting in the forest, near the IceClan border. He was tracking a rabbit, and then the wind changed; his scent was carried to the rabbit, and he took off running after it.

"Sagepaw!" Sunfall called, a hint of urgency in his mew. "Did you plan to sleep the day away?"

"My apprentice would rather sleep than train," Sunfall snorted. He quickly turned and left the den, expecting her to follow. "Do you think you're finally ready to join the clan, or do you need to eat first?"

"Follow me," Sunfall meowed over his shoulder. He lead her across the camp into the his den- perhaps soon he would allow her to move her nest in here. "Sorting herbs is only half your job as a medicine cat. The other half deals with StarClan."

"Everything," Sunfall told her. "StarClan speaks to us when they have a message or a warning for the clan, and it is our job to receive and interpret them. A clan without a capable medicine cat is destined to spiral into darkness."

"Usually, but they rarely do what is expected of them. Cats turn to us for wisdom and guidance, so should they send a message to another cat, they would turn to us for help," Sunfall told her. "It is ultimately up to the cat who received the sign to determine what it means."

"Ofcourse it is," Sunfall meowed. "That is why the Medicine cat isn't chosen lightly, nor is it a choice made by me. Until we travel to the Starlight Caves and share tongues with StarClan, you are not officially my apprentice." The clan may see her as one, but it wasn't up to them- only their ancestors could truly accept her.
