Flameface followed and put the cobwebs with the others, then came back and pushed his Dock leaf to Blackmist. -- "I do hope I meet her, Lightbringer, if I do, I'll tell her that you say hi." Blackmist watched the tortoiseshell tom push the leaf to him and he sighed, opening it and looking around at the multitude of herbs. "I guess we should sort these.. Do you know which herbs are which?" He asked Lightbringer, wanting some help with it.

(roleplay has started in orchardclan) "i know some of it, but not all. but as long as you explain to me as we go, im sure i can figure some of it out" she purred, coming and across from the elder tom. opening her own lead, she carefully started separating some of the herbs she knew from the others, and putting them in piles beside her

((Sorry, I didn't get an alert for your post.)) Blackmist watched her before starting on his own, easily separating them into different piles and nipping unneeded leaves or stems away from the useful part of the plant. "What was your rank in your old Clan? It seems like you did a lot of helping with the medicine cat. Was she a friend? A relative?" He asked this without even looking up, his paws still moving different plants into assorted piles.

(its okay ) LightBringer paused for a moment in her sorting. "a very close friend. we grew up together, our mothers both had their litters at the same time. even though she was our medicine cat, she was as good a fighter as ive seen. we used to brush up on her training a few times each moon, so if something were to attack her, and come into the camp, she could fend for herself." the she-cat explained, finishing sorting what she knew by heart. "can you teach me about the rest of these?"

Blackmist gave her a look of sympathy and padded over, looking over the herbs she didn't quite know yet. "This," He gestured with a paw to a plant with small white flowers and large green leaves. "Is Chickweed. It's very useful during the winter and serves as another treatment for greencough. Not as good as catmint, but it helps." He looked to another one, which was little tiny bunches of a white flowers that differed from the Chickweed, coming smaller in size with more quantity. "That one is Snakeroot. It's like how Burdock Root helps with rat bites the best, this one counters poison the best. It's why we named it as such." There was one more pile and as he looked closely, he recognized the small yellow flowers as Tormentil. "This last one here is Tormentil, like Snakeroot's cousin. You can use it to treat certain wounds, but it only helps with weaker poisons, like a spider bite or a bad berry." This experience was very similar to teaching an apprentice and he enjoyed it an awful lot, his eyes gleaming softly with happiness and his expression soft.

(morning! sort of lol. orchardclan is thriving now! thank you for joining by the way! ) As BlackMist explained what the plants were, LightBringer separated them into different piles, trying to repeat what they were over and over so she would remember. "i can start putting these away in the storage area if you'd like? while you finish sorting your pile of herbs" she suggested, getting up and stretching happily. Picking up the chickweed, she brought it over to the stockpiles, and searched for the pile it belonged in. seeing it, she added her group into the pile.

Blackmist watched her before he started again on his own pile, separating Nettle Seeds from Poppy Seeds and Oak Leaves from Daisy Leaves. He loved his position, he really did, but the more he saw how capable Lightbringer was, the more he wanted to retire early and just let someone else far less aged take over for him. He let out a heavy sigh and pushed some Comfrey away from Marigold. ((No problem, but I'll likely need to be called back every now and again because I'm pretty busy))

LightBringer padded back and forth between her sorted plants and seeds, and the storage piles. once shes done, she starts to put away the herbs that BlackMist has separated. as she falls into a rhythm, she starts to think about her old clan mates. while it made her sad, she also is happy that she was accepted into her new clan. she had missed being able to help, especially the medicine cats in her clan.

Blackmist soon finished his work and stood up, his front legs urging for a long stretch while his back legs protested to any movement whatsoever. "Maybe if you head out now, you'll be able to catch the dusk patrol? This is normally when they start to head out." He said this while gazing outside of his den, eyes narrowed against the faint light of the setting sun. He could see Badgerpatch collecting together Flameface and Swiftpaw, then swiveling her head to and fro, as if she were looking for one more eligible cat.

"thank you BlackMist. if you need anything, let me know" the she-cat purred softly, before padding out of the medicine cat den and towards FlameFace. "BlackMist said the dusk patrol would be heading out soon. is there room for one more?" LightBringer meowed out as she approached the group of three.

Badgerpatch eyed Lightbringer almost suspiciously before she gave a slow nod, allowing the new member of the Clan to be part of the patrol. "Flameface is leading, so listen to what he says." The deputy lightly flicked her tail before padding away toward where Splashwhisker was tearing into a sparrow. - "Don't mind her, she's just a bit grumpy due to all the stress." Flameface excused his littermate with a light chuckle, his embarrassment displayed in how the fur on his shoulders spiked up in certain places. "We should get going before the borders get too dark to see across." He moved toward the entrance with Swiftpaw quick on his heels.

(sorry for the inactivity)
LightBringer watched as the she-cat walked away, and sighs a little. But when FlameFace commented, she purred softly, and nodded. "okay" as the tom and the apprentice head towards the entrance, she pads after them, catching up. The white and black she cat is eager to see her new territory.

(It's fine, holidays and all.))
Once they arrived at the border, Flameface set to sniffing around and resetting the markers. As far as he could tell, there had been no trespassers, but he could scent blood in the air, and a lot of it. "Smells like they're having trouble.." He muttered, wincing slightly when he heard a familiar distressed yowl, one he recognized to be coming from MoonClan's deputy, Lilytooth. He felt bad that they couldn't help, but it would be breaking code if they raced across. "Come on, we shouldn't stay here long." He murmured, guiding the other two toward the river.
"Are they okay?" Swiftpaw mewed, concern evident in her voice. Though they were the enemy Clan, she couldn't help but feel worried for some of the cats she spoke with at the Gatherings. She'd even made friends with a few of the apprentices, so that only made her feel worse. She hoped that Kitepaw and Kestrelpaw were okay. (All characters mentioned are my own over at MoonClan))

(okay)
LightBringer gazed over the border at their neighboring clan. "when is the next gathering?" she asks, following after the tom and helping him to renew the markers, when possible. listening to the apprentice, she frowned. "im sure they'll be alright" she assured the fellow she-cat.

"I'd say in a couple sunrises. We haven't had one for a while, so I'm just assuming." Flameface turned his eyes to the sky, narrowing them at the setting sun and array of reddish/pink clouds. "The moon will tell us." He offered a shrug and led the two further, stopping when they reached the river. It was easy to see right into the other Clan's territory, as they had the other side of the wide-open moor. Swiftpaw stepped into the shallows of the river while gazing down into it, her eyes focused on any sort of movement beneath the ripples. "Fish are tasty." She meowed, raising her tail so it didn't cause a disturbance.

"i hope i get to go to the next gathering." LightBringer mused to herself. watching the apprentice, she sighed happily, and padded further down the river, sitting on the edge of the bank, and watching. theres no sign of movement down here, and the shecat glances back at flameface and swiftpaw.

"You might be able to, Fuzzystar likes to announce the new warriors every time. Splashwhisker is going to the next one, plus Swiftpaw and Yewpaw might be warriors before then as well." Flameface meowed, a look of pity coming onto his face when Swiftpaw's ears fell back at the news. He was aware she felt bad for her second brother, Owlpaw, who wasn't doing as well in warrior training as everyone had thought he would. Shaking it off, the tortoiseshell tasted the air for any prey.
Swiftpaw kept watching the water while pushing thoughts of Owlpaw away when suddenly she struck his paw out, then pulled a medium-sized fish from the river. "Got one!" She announced before slamming it down to the bank, then jumping on it and biting down hard. It stopped flopping around a few seconds later and the apprentice held it up, clearly proud of her catch.

LightBringer purred softly, and chuckled. opening her jaws, she tasted the air, and caught a familiar scent of a bird. "how often do you guys go into the trees for prey?" she asked, as she followed the scent to the base of a tree. peering up into the branches, she spotted a good sized bird, possibly a young hawk or something of the likes. "watch" she mewed quietly. circling around, she found another tree that had branches that almost touched with the other tree. judging the distance, she crouched, and leaped up. the she cats claws digs into the bark of the tree, and she easily climbs up to a branch that she can crouch on steadily. the bird has moved, slightly, and with a flick of her tail, to indicate to flameface to be ready, she leaps at the bird, and knocks it to the ground with a solid thump from the impact.

Flameface watched the she-cat curiously as she climbed up the tree, quickly catching on as she signaled for him to be prepared. He lowered himself and waited, pouncing on the bird the second it hit the ground. Due to it being dazed, he was able to deliver a clean bite straight to the throat. He swiped his tongue around his jaws as he pulled away, emitting a quiet purr. "That was clever!" He meowed, glancing up at the other warrior. - "Impressive!" Swiftpaw cried from behind the fish she held in her jaws, her eyes bright with excitement. She placed the fresh-kill on top of a pile of fallen leaves and bounded over, her whiskers twitching. "Where did you learn to do that?"

( thomas the roleplay in orchardclan is active) being extremely careful due to the height, LightBringer judged the distance before gracefully jumping to the ground. "in my old clan. we used to hunt in the trees when we were desperately low on fresh kill, or when we just wanted to challenge ourselves a bit." she explained, and dragged her tongue over her jaws as well. "it even works on birds larger than that." she commented. "would you guys like me to show you exactly how to do it?" she asked.

((Alright))
"I think I have the gist of it, I don't need any coaching." Flameface laid down next to the bird and began cleaning his paws, figuring that this was as good a time as ever to do so. After all, Swiftpaw seemed pretty eager to learn, so she would likely take Lightbringer up on her offer to teach them how. - "Yes! Please do!" Swiftpaw jumped on the opportunity wanting to have the chance at becoming the best warrior she could, even if this wasn't a needed part of her training. She padded over and looked up at the tree, feeling of anxiety suddenly rushing back at the thought of climbing. She wasn't the biggest fan of scaling trees but she was determined, and that quickly overtook any thoughts of giving up.

(logging off for the weekend, will be back monday)
LightBringer chuckled, and padded over as well. "the idea is to knock them to the ground, and have your partner take it out with a killing bite." she explained. "the hardest part is getting over the fear of being so high up. and also learning how to scale a tree quickly, and without alerting your prey." glancing up into the branches, the she-cat padded towards another tree, where theres a smaller bird then the one she had caught. "see that bird up there? you want to find a tree that has branches that extend close enough to where you can leap safely from one to the other. and you want to try to get behind it, so it doesnt see you coming, obviously."

((See ya then))
Swiftpaw flicked her ear in understanding and moved around the tree, scouting for some branches that were close together so she could climb without worrying about falling. She soon spotted some and with a deep breath, she launched herself into the tree, using her back claws to propel her smoothly upward. She soon reached her desired branch and she rested for a moment, looking around for the bird that still sat on the branch, not having detected the she-cat. Good, she thought as she made her way toward the back of it, being as quiet as possible while moving from branch to branch. She came up behind the creature and with a meow of triumph, smacked it down with a sharp hit from her paw. "Get it!" She meowed, lowering her head so she could watch the bird be killed.

LightBringer delivered a quick killing blow to the birds neck, and then glanced up at the apprentice. "nice job!" she complimented, purring with satisfaction. she was pleased that she could show her new clan mates different tricks to hunting and gathering plants for the medicine cats. and more than that, she loved being able to say shes part of a clan again.

Swiftpaw looked toward the ground with uncertainty and tentatively began making her way back down, her anxiety not hidden one bit. She'd stepped onto one branch she would need to make her way down and hissed as it immediately snapped, bringing her front leg down with it. To keep her entire body from falling, the apprentice pushed her shoulder hard against the tree, wincing when the broken pieces of the branch scratched at her skin. She stopped and regained her balance before leaning back onto the branch her hind legs were on, relieved that she hadn't fallen and broken her neck or something along those lines. She could feel blood oozing from her shoulder but it felt like a minor issue compared to what could have happened. "Um, guys? I can't get down, my branch broke.." She meowed, trying her best to find a way for her to drop to the ground without getting too injured. - Flameface stood up from his casual grooming session and moved over to where Swiftpaw was stuck, slightly confused as to why she didn't climb down the tree like a normal cat did. He was about to voice his inquiry when he noticed her bloodied shoulder, immediately assuming that was the issue here. "I'll come and get you, just stay where you are." Due to Swiftpaw's size, he wasn't all too sure he would be able to carry her down, but he was a pretty strong cat himself, so he had to at least try. "Lightbringer, can you stand where I am so if I drop her, you may be able to catch her?" He murmured this to keep the apprentice from hearing, not wanting her to freak out and make things even worse.

"of course." LightBringer whispered back. using her tail, she pointed out a fairly easy path down from where SwiftPaw stood, and said "that should be the easiest path down for her. when we get her down, ill take a look at her shoulder, and see. if its bleeding heavily, we'll have to stop the bleeding before continuing back to camp." glancing around, the she-cat looked for cobwebs that they could use.

((I've been waiting for someone to reply to me there but I haven't gotten any notifications so idk if my character is frozen or what.))
Flameface nodded before jumping up the tree and climbing the path that had been pointed out to him, feeling grateful that he had fairly long claws. "Swiftpaw!" He meowed as he reached her, being quick as he grasped her scruff and pulled her off the branch she was perched on. He wobbled and his amber eyes widened, showing his momentary fear until he regained his balance and slowly began climbing down with the she-cat between his jaws. She didn't struggle but she was clearly pained by the teeth in her scruff and her shoulder, which struck guilt in the tom even though none of this was his fault. It was a few minutes until they reached the ground and when they did, the tortoiseshell put down the apprentice and laid down, huffing from the stress of the action. The muscles in his legs ached from being tightened for so long and having to carry so much weight, so he was happy that he got a small break.

(good morning!)
As soon as the apprentice was down on the ground, LightBringer padded over and nosed at the she-cats shoulder. "it doesnt seem too bad. can you walk?" she asks, as she gathers some cobwebs to stop the bleeding. finding enough, she quickly presses it into place on top of the wound, gently, so as not to further hurt the apprentice. "i am sorry that you got hurt" she murmured.

"It was my fault, don't be sorry." Swiftpaw rotated her shoulder and took a few steps, letting out a relieved sigh when it wasn't too hard to walk. "I can make it back to camp easily, it doesn't hurt too bad." She stole a glance back at the warrior who'd brought her down from the tree and gave an appreciative nod. "Thanks, Flameface." - The tom simply replied with a flick of his ear and focused more on resting since his legs ached like he'd run around the territory twice in a row.
