Icesong starred in surprise, frozen to the spot, Emberfang who had sat next to her shoved her forward, propelling her to the front of the crowd with a purr.
" I, I am honoured Dawnstar, I will endeavour to uphold the legacy you left as Cloudstar's deputy," Icesong murmured, icy blue eyes alight with delight.
She'd never thought she'd be considered for a deputy position, much less become one herself! She was going to be the future leader!
She was still shocked about Leaftail but this news overlaid that shock.
Leaftail heard the announcement as he passed away from his former camp.
" Icesong, good choice, at least I'll have some help to return," He mused as he raced away.

"Dismissed," Dawnstar meowed before leaping off the announcement stone, the clan cheering Icesong's name and congratulating her.
Fawnprint swished her tail sadly, her mate was leaving and she was going to have his kits!At least no one knew we were mates, they'll be safe. Though, I wish I could've told him. "Congradulations Icesong," she purred, padding over to the new deputy.

"Well, yes, he is." She lied. "But it's fine, so, how do you feel, being deputy?" Fawnprint changed the subject, uncomfortable with lying about her kits' father.

She trotted away with a wave of her tail in goodbye. She spotted Dawnstar and raced over to check on her new jobs.
