Pinepaw didn't know weather he liked the idea of other cats tagging along, he knew he could take care of himself. Sootfleck was probably right though, that just in case he ran trouble he'd be glad of help. Besides, Sandpaw was usually one of the few apprentices he'd talk to when he wasn't busy with Medicine cat duties. He tramped out of the camp, into the heavy undergrowth that splotched the dense forest floor. Fireclaw had taken him to the training hollow once or twice to teach him some basic battle moves with the other apprentices, he was surprised that he held his own against Sparkpaw, even though she had more experience fighting than he did. In the present, he reached the bracken that surrounded the hollow and halted, struggling to pick out anything that would alert him of their presence. The forest gave nothing away though, and after another moment of waiting, he let out a feeble holler. He realized the lack of sleep was getting to him. Pinepaw considered calling out again, when the scurry of paw steps heading towards the hollow grabbed his attention. He picked out Snakepounce, Sandpaw, and Sparkpaw emerging from the other side of the hollow. Snakepounce's questioning gaze showed the group had no idea why Pinepaw needed them, in fact he wasn't even sure he did. "Sootfleck says I should take one of you with me to the great oak, Fireclaw needs cobwebs for her." ((I'm really tired I hope this came out right, as i'm tired as Pinepaw is ))

Snakepounce opened his mouth to volunteer but thought twice, deciding he didn't want to leave Sparkpaw and Sandpaw alone with one another; he was afraid they'd get into a fight over something stupid. "Sandpaw, go with Pinepaw." He didn't even have to get the words out before the ginger tom was trotting toward the medicine cat apprentice, his tail-tip flicking lightly. "Don't do anything risky." Sandpaw merely flicked an ear in acknowledgement to the warrior's words and stopped at Pinepaw's side. "You look exhausted, do you want me to take the lead?" He asked, his tone much lighter and gentler than normal. The medicine cat apprentice was one of the few cats he actually did enjoy speaking to and considered a friend, so it was only natural for him to be concerned for the smaller cat. "I could also catch you something to eat on the way if you're hungry."
((Sandpaw is the pushy father type))

"I'm fine, I'll rest and eat when we get back to camp, with the cobwebs." Fireclaw taught him that he had to forgo food until his clanmates were taken care of, just as normal apprentices fed the clan before they were allowed to eat. With a motion of his tail, the two set off en route to the great oak. Once they padded out of earshot from Snakepounce, Pinepaw noticed Sandpaw had already taken the lead, padding ahead energetically. "When do you think your assessment will be?" Pinepaw hoped some conversation might impede his friend so he could catch up. Trudging on while waiting for an answer, he distinguished the bright red head of a woodpecker peeking out a crevice in a nearby pine tree. A second later, when spotting a crow, his stomach growled once more. Pinepaw hadn't even made it to the great oak and he was thinking of eating crows? Realizing that his hunger now overpowered his need for rest, he suddenly regretted attempting to slow down Sandpaw.

Fireclaw found the elder leaves and padded over to Sootfleck. "These will ease the pain. But we have to wait for Pinepaw to get back."
Sparkpaw looked to Snakepounce. "I told you you should have been more concerned about Sootfleck, and now Sandpas has to stop hunting, you furball!" Sparkpaw let out a mrrow of laughter. "Only joking. Let's keep hunting."

Sandpaw seemed to get a bit sheepish at the inquiry on his assessment, his head lowering and the tip of his tail twitching lightly. "U-Um... I've already gone through with my assessment.... It's just that Spottedstar... isn't ready to make me a warrior. She probably thinks I need more training." He avoided the fact that their leader was getting old and probably didn't realize how much time had passed, likely still thinking Sandpaw was the small, enthusiastic and obedient cat he'd been six moons before. It was then that he spotted the crow and he stopped, glad to have something to focus on that wasn't his warrior ceremony; he crept forward and took a moment to gather himself before leaping, landing a killing blow on the bird quickly. He brought it back with his head held high and dropped it in front of Pinepaw, as if saying he'd caught it for the other.
Letting out a snort, Sootfleck settled down and rasped her tongue along her leg, as if the action would ease the burning sensation that the sprain shot all the way up to her shoulder. "He'd better hurry up, this is getting frustrating.." She muttered, now showing the attitude that was usually only seen on mornings when she wasn't ready to get up.
Snakepounce playfully cuffed Sparkpaw over the ear and shook out fur out, chuckling. "Alright, alright, let's get back to work." He moved toward the trees and lifted his nose to the air, scenting for prey.

"More training..." Mumbling between ravenous bites, Pinepaw continued "You wouldn't be the first cat to doubt Spottedstar's recent decisions. If I were leader, you'd already be a warrior, you've easily earned it." Finishing the crow, Pinepaw got up and stretched "Thanks for the meal, I feel better...- the cobwebs!" How could he forget? At this rate Fireclaw will never consider him a competent medicine cat!
Arriving at the great oak, Pinepaw's attention was stolen by the stormclouds drifting over the forest. Working as diligently as possible, he scooped all the cobwebs he could find that clung to the tree's bark into a bundle. Letting Sandpaw drop his bunch onto the heap of webs, Pinepaw patted them down. This would easily be enough for Sootfleck's sprain. Glancing to the sky, Pinepaw saw that more clouds had moved in. Turning his eye back to his friend who was also watching the clouds, he urged Sandpaw to the pile and they both took a share of the webs in their jaws. As they traveled back along the same trail from which they came, thunder could be heard in the distance and a gust of wind blew leaves ahead of them. Pinepaw knew they had to move fast now, or else he, Sandpaw, and the cobwebs would be drenched.
((Who's the deputy?))

Sandpaw quickened his pace while his ears flattened, showing that he was thinking the same thing as Pinepaw. "Strange.." He managed through the mess of cobwebs in his jaws, it being shown that he was referring to the weather by the way his narrowed eyes were focused on the sky. The ginger tom was always uneasy during storms and stuck close to other cats, mostly because he'd seen for himself what damage they could do if they got too bad. He stepped closer to Pinepaw without thinking, naturally seeking comfort from another cat.
((Firefur is the deputy))

Arriving at the entrance to the camp, he looked about for Sootfleck or Fireclaw. A shallow hiss, dampened by the storm, forced his attention to the medicine den. In the shadows he made out Fireclaw's bushy tail. Nudging Sandpaw, the two entered the den, delivering the cobwebs to the medicine cat. "I'm sorry we took so long, I- is Sootfleck any better?" Fireclaw had already turned away though, already wrapping the cobwebs. He must not have heard him, especially not with the roaring windstorm outside. Hopping into his nest, Pinepaw looked back finding Sandpaw shifting his paws wondering what to do now. "You can stay in here until the storm subsides, I'm sure Fireclaw won't mind." Seeing his friend's expression relax, the medicine cat apprentice curled up in his nest. "If I'm needed for anything, just wake me up." With that said, Pinepaw fell into a well needed sleep.

Swanfall padded up to camp with a skinny vole in her jaws looking proud despite her puny catch. she flung the vole onto the pile and went to the medicine to ask Pinepaw if she could help grab herbs she hated being stuck in camp with nothing to do.

Gingerpaw nodded. "Of course." "Great. Let's get moving, then. The thrushes you scared off yesterday should be back by now," said Firefur briskly. The other day when they'd been hunting in the grove Gingerpaw had caught her first blackbird and yowled in triumph, scaring off all the other prey.

Fireclaw wrapped the elder leaves to Sootfleck's foot, her paws working nimbly. "Rest now," she said to the warrior. "You'll need to lay off hunting for a day or two to let it heal." Fireclaw padded into the medicine den to see Pinepaw fast asleep in his nest. She considered waking him to help her sort herbs, then decided to let him sleep.
Sparkpaw followed her mentor's lead, tasting the air and creeping along as quietly as possible.

Whisperkit was getting sick of waiting for his mother to pay attention to him she was to busy gloating about her catch in the medicine den to know if he was somewhere else.taking a second look to be sure no cat was watching him he raced out of camp (if mother see's what a great hunter i am she will care about me!) exited at the idea sniffed the air for prey he wrinkled his nose at the smell of rotten prey "yuck crow food" he meowed intent on catching prey he kept going unaware of the trouble that he might get into for sneaking out of camp.

Swanfall stopped at the entrance of and saw fireclaw "Fireclaw is Pinepaw in there?"
Pinepaw straightened up at the hearing of his name. Leaving the herbs he was sorting behind, the apprentice rushed to the entrance of the medicine den. After passing Fireclaw, he found Swanfall sitting neatly, right outside. "I'm here! Oh, hey Swanfall, what do you need me for?" Fully rested now, he had been performing all his medicine duties as efficiently as possible and this was a perfect opportunity to demonstrate his eagerness to work in front of his mentor.

"Yes, that would be helpful. We're low on comfrey. I'll come with, if Fireclaw wouldn't mind." Pinepaw glanced back over his shoulder to see Fireclaw, who's tail flicked toward the camp entrance, signalling he was allowed to go. "Won't be long, I promise!" He crept outside into the sun-lit clearing, allowing his eyes to adjust for a few seconds to the light. Hoping to start up a conversation as the two padded outside the camp, Pinepaw remembered seeing Swanfall in the nursery recently. "Your kit's almost old enough to be made an apprentice now isn't he?"

((I guess... Thunderfire, what do you think?))
"Maybe he can be a medicine cat apprentice, like I am? Has he any interest in..." Pinepaw's voice trailed off as he saw a white kit being attacked by a murder of crows. After the initial shock of seeing the tussle taking place, Pinepaw realized how great an opportunity this was to help his clan. He leaped and landed straight on one of the crows attacking the kit. The other crows, spooked, flew away in an attempt to stay clear of the lashing storm of claws taking place on the ground. With a killing slash at the neck of the crow Pinepaw was clinging to, the bird fell dead beside the bruised, battered, and shivering kit. "Are you okay?" Pinepaw blurted out the question to the dazed cat in front of him.

Gingerpaw twitched her ears to signal she had heard and quietly crept towards the shrew. Thoughts began to flit through her brain, but she focused all of them onto: catch shrew, be alert, be quiet, bring the shrew back. She found herself in front of the bush quite suddenly and paused, unsure of what to do next. She gathered strength into her legs and pushed forwards, imagining herself to be a powerful snake. Her felt the shrew agaisnt her fur, and delivered the killing bite. A thrill went through her, and she raced back to Firefur.
Or at least she tried to.
She ended up tripping on the bush and making the leaves crackle, not noisy enough to scare off all the prey, but noisy enough to scare off any that was very close- not like they'd stay anyway after her catching that shrew.
