{Fallen Stars: Sorry to be a lil nitpicky, but could you possibly change Albatrosscry's name? I just don't think they would know what an albatross is to be named after one. The rest of perfect, though!
~Vacancy~: Thank you for telling me!
And sorry for last night, I totally fell asleep, haha}

Foxpaw was silent for the time being, eyes focused on the mouse in front of them as he felt Foampaw move in towards it. He stayed put, just observing her technique. Not that he was any hunting expert, but he was the better hunter out of the two of them and he did hope she might listen if he decided to give her any tips on how to get better. You could not improve if you ignored all sorts of feedback. The russet tom held his breath a little as the smaller apprentice leaped forward, paws outstretched for the mouse. He did hope that she had succeeded, but the mouse seemed to have avoided the attack and was now darting off deeper into the field.
"Come on!" He meowed loudly, darting off after the mouse in the hopes that they could cut it off. He was closer than Foampaw was so it would be easier. The tom was light on his paws as he ran, tail streaming out behind him. It was a good thing he was no longer falling asleep on his paws or this would be a lot harder. But with two cats chasing after the terrified mouse, it was easier to grab it. Once he was close enough, Foxpaw pounced forward, trapping the little mouse between his large paws and killing it with a swift bite. "And that is how you do it," he meowed, feeling pretty smug about it as he sat down and cleaned his paws a little. "One to me, I think."
Swiftsky was silent, head dipped a little as she listened to Hazefall's story. While she knew of the fact that he did have a kit and he wasn't a Clan cat, she didn't know what had happened. "I'm sorry," she meowed softly as she finished his story, gently brushing her tail against the older tom as a sign of comfort, "It must have been hard for you." She couldn't imagine going through something like that so she could never really know how much pain Hazelfall was in over everything. But she would be respectful of it and not bring it up if he didn't want to talk about it. "Foxpaw will be a fine warrior and you should be proud," she did agree with a nod, "And you are a great mentor. I would not be surprised if Sandstar entrusts you with training another apprentice once you are done with Foxpaw."
"The more trips the better," the black and white she-cat pointed out, picking up the pace a little as the two of them drew near to her stash, "That means we caught a lot of the Clan will not go hungry." Sandstar would be pleased to see so much prey brought back, it was always a comfort to know that cats were not going to go hungry.
Eyes shining a little as she spotted the spot she had used earlier, Swiftsky gestured to it with her tail, adding, "Here we are."
----
Sandstar's amber eyes looked over the larger and much fluffier she-cat, tilting her head to the side. "It must be hard for you," she commented with a soft meow, "With such a thick pelt in this heat." She felt bad for all the cats with longer and darker fur, the sun did make it hard for some of them to function, but she understood that. It was why she was thankful for her own short pelt, though she often found herself sticking to the shade these days just because it could get so hot when the sun was at its peak. It was why she also liked it when the Clan got things done in the early or late ours of the day when it wasn't so hot outside.
At the mention of Shellfang, she shifted her gaze to the tomcat for a moment, watching him work. "I think that sounds like a wonderful thing for him to do," if he was fit for then she certainly wasn't going to complain, "We might as well work to our strengths." Each cat had something they could do or something they were good at and she wanted to make the most of it.
Sitting herself down, the small she-cat wrapped her tail neatly over her paws, amber eyes taking another look around the camp before they returned to Gannetcloud again. "I am always thinking," she responded, meow mixed with amusement, "But it is nothing to worry yourself over. I'm just trying to work out what patrols and hunting parties I should send out today before it get's too hot." The sun was always blazing so that was always a problem. There was a little more to it than that, but she didn't want other cats to worry about her problems. It was better if some things were kept under wraps, though she knew that she did need to pick a deputy, so that was always in the forefront of her mind as well. There was just so much to think about.

"Well, if I may speak," Gannetcloud took a moment to respond, drawing out her words carefully as she considered an appropriate reply to Sandstar's voiced issue. "I believe the younger, shorter-furred cats may be better to send nearer Sun High. The more senior warriors and thicker pelted cats may prefer the cooler times of day." It was a harmless suggestion, but it was one she felt the clan leader would've already thought of and didn't need being repeated unnecessarily. So she shifted on her haunches, her plumy soot colored tail tip flicking. "I'm... sorry, Sandstar. I'm not the smartest here." She could admit that. Her wide yellow eyes sifted, turning high toward the sky and watching thin wisps of white skitter across the blue canvas. "You're better off in the company of someone wiser for wear." Ironic considering her age, but she'd rather not dwell on the matter of how useless her own existence seemed to be in her eyes. If only she was skilled in something other than her endless musings and uncanny ability to feign amusement whenever strangers confused her for a tom.
Tufted ears flicked backward then, eyes still uplifted and drooping onyx whiskers giving the lightest of twitches. She fell victim to her own thoughts then, mind running amok with meaningless concepts and imaginings until her present company brought her attention back to the ground she sat upon. She turned her attention on the little she-cat then, her chin pressed to the fluffy and wild silver fur protruding from her throat. She focused on the details of Sandstar's complexion, hoping that the finer touches would help cement her mind in the conversation at hand.

[ sorry i wasn't on earlier, i was at my grandparents' house o: ]
Why did she have to be such a bad hunter? Everything else was pretty easy to her. Fighting she excelled in. Stealth she was adequate in. But hunting...it just wasn't her thing, and Foampaw hated it. She wanted to be better at hunting, just enough to show Swiftsky that she could be a warrior now. She wanted to show Foxpaw that she could catch more than he could. If she kept it up then Foxpaw would beat her by a lot, and Foampaw didn't want that to happen.
After a moment of chasing after the mouse, Foampaw realized that she wasn't going to be the one to make the kill. She fell back to let Foxpaw take care of it. Disappointment rushed through the young she-cat when Foxpaw pounced and made a swift kill of the mouse. Deep down she was happy for the russet tomcat, but she felt somewhat sorry for herself because she had lost what had been an easy kill. "One to you," she repeated with a small nod of her head. Then, to perk herself back up, she offered a faint smile. "I'll do better next time. I'll actually catch something!" Now determined to beat Foxpaw even more, Foampaw went on to search for more signs of prey, her jaws wide open and her ears swiveling each and every way in search of any noises.
Whenever Hazelfall told his story he never meant to make a cat feel sorry for himself. That was never his goal. If and when he told a cat about the happening between his son and him, he merely retold the story as a sense of comfort for himself. When he told his story to a cat it made him feel like he could trust them all the more, and Hazelfall wanted to trust Swiftsky more than he already did. She was an amazing warrior and Hazelfall felt a friendly connection toward her. Other than Swiftsky Sandstar was the only cat the tabby had told so far. He had told his story to the leader when he made his case of wanting to join the Clan. He wasn't going to hold anything back from his leader, a cat he needed to trust fully and a cat that needed to trust him fully in return. "There's no need to be sorry. What we were talking about made me think about it, and I felt like I could tell you." He then smiled, glad that the she-cat was so understanding. "But thank you, and if you ever want to talk about something, I'm here." And he meant it when he said that. If Swiftsky ever had something troubling her or just something she wanted to talk about, Hazelfall would be all ears.
The tabby seemed to revert back to his usual self when Swiftsky mentioned how well of a mentor he was. His green eyes shimmered with amusement but there was also a bashful tint to them, a sign that told of how her words embarrassed him somewhat. A great mentor? He didn't think he was that good of a mentor. "Sandstar should probably let another cat experience the wonder that is mentoring. You yourself are a wonderful one as well. I don't know many cats that could take Foampaw's energy and put it to such good use." Once again he was as truthful as could be, his words never suggesting a lie to them at all.
Thinking about prey once again, Hazelfall nodded in agreement. "It'll mean less hunting trips tomorrow and more time to patrol our borders." The Clan was growing, but it was still young and therefore still small. There wasn't that many cats that could be split up into equal hunting and border patrols, at least not yet. That would change in time, though, Hazelfall just knew. He purred when Swiftsky pointed to a patch of recently dug soil. The tabby padded over and sniffed around it, checking for any scents of anything that might had found it while the she-cat was back in camp. Now sure that everything was clear, the tom started digging, picking up a few mice out of the make-shift hole.

{Ok Fallen, thanks for letting me know <3 And that's fine, I'm hardly the most active person rn, lol}
Sandstar nodded her head a little in agreement, completely agreeing with the larger she-cat. "That is what I was thinking," she meowed after a moment, "Or if I just make sure we do all out hunting and most of the patrols during the early morning or evening when it is not so hot." Though, of course, they needed to patrol the borders during the day as well because she was sure that cats would still be around at that time. And patrolling was extra important while the Clan was still growing in size, most cats were not used to having a territory to avoid, and a lot of the loners and rogues were still quite against the idea and liked to trespass because they thought they could. Of course, not that Sandstar wanted any conflict, she would prefer that some cats wandered their territory more than the idea of getting into a fight.
"And what if I am enjoying your company just as well as any other?" She asked, turning her head towards the fluffy she-cat beside her, amusement dancing in her amber orbs for a moment. "And I am sure you are wiser than you think, you are probably wiser in some subjects and other cats are smarter in others. That is how the world works." And Sandstar liked the idea of some council from all of her warriors, at least, for the time being, while she was still trying to work out who to appoint as deputy.
---
Foxpaw was not all that pleased with himself for catching the mouse, he would have just been angry at himself if he had missed it, probably what Foampaw was feeling right now. "You just need extra practice," he made a point of informing the smaller she-cat before picking up his catch gently in his mouth, trotting towards one of the trees to quickly bury it for later. It would be silly just to leave it laying around for some other cat to come along and steal it, or for some bird to come along and take it for themselves. His paws made quick work of digging out a little hole before carefully putting the mouse in it, covering it up again and making a point of remembering where it was. Once that was done he turned and trotted after Foampaw as she went on the search for more prey.
"You just need to work on your leaping a bit," he meowed as advice, taking the opportunity to talk about it, "The only reason you missed is that you leaped too short." Though she was probably aware of this already and he did hope she wasn't just going to get annoyed at him for trying to offer advice to her.
Swiftsky was silent for the moment, not sure what she should say. The black and white she-cat hadn't really expected Hazelfall to tell her these kinds of things, but she was grateful that he trusted her enough to talk about it. "Well, I am thankful that you feel like you can tell me these things," she meowed in response, dipping her head just a little, "And thank you. If I ever have something that I want to talk about, I will make sure I come and find you." But, for now, she didn't really have anything she wanted to say. It was not like she had some family outside the Clan to worry about, it had always been herself and no one else to worry about. No family to speak of, ever since she was kit she had been alone, finding it hard to survive. It was only because of the Twolegs feeding her that she was even alive.
"If you do well, then it is only reasonable that you are given another apprentice," she meowed with a dismissive flick of her tail, "Then it will be proven that you can make great warriors, and we need great warriors if the Clan is to survive." Though she did agree that other cats needed to be given the opportunity as well as it was a great experience to mentor someone. But, for now, Sandstar needed to worry about making sure the best cats became mentors to produce the best warriors. At least, that is how she saw it. "Yes, Foampaw is quite a pawful," she responded with a small noise of amusement, "If I am to be a mentor again, I think I would like my next apprentice to be a little calmer." Not that she would ever regret mentoring Foampaw.
She was quick to nod her head in agreement, "Patrolling our borders is important. I always find some cat on our land. They need to learn that this is Clan territory now." And she was not afraid to fight to protect that land, either. But she pushed her mind from that, softly padding over to where she had buried her prey, digging around a bit to uncover it from the dry ground. "I wonder how they are doing," she mused, using her paw to fish out her catch.

Foampaw was about to shoot some kind of snarky reply but bit it back when she realized that Foxpaw was being genuine. She looked at the russet tom for a moment, letting out a long sigh. "I know, but I feel like I can never get the hang of it. Swiftsky tries so hard to teach me how to hunt better, and I always mess something up. If it's not my leap, it's my steps. If it's not my steps, it's my tail being too high or too low." It wasn't every day Foampaw allowed herself to come clean about her faults, especially to Foxpaw, but he was a friend, right? They ticked each other off a lot but they still hung out. That made them friends, right?
Fighting was easy. All Foampaw had to do was make sure she was balanced and then throw all of her power into organized movements. Hunting just wasn't cut out for her. Fishing was easier, but she wasn't the greatest at that, either. At least she could catch a fish without fault. "Could you show me your crouch and pounce?" The she-cat asked the tom sheepishly. She wanted to get better at hunting, she really did. Maybe Foxpaw could teach her in his own way that Swiftsky couldn't. Swiftsky was an amazing mentor, but maybe her way of showing Foampaw to hunt wasn't the best for the young she-cat. "You can have the next mouse if you do, but after that," a hint of that old spark came back as she spoke, "the competition is back on."
Even before joining SeaClan Hazelfall had found it easy to make friends. He was a likable cat, for the most part at least. He was easy to get along with and just overall a pretty chill cat. He was glad to be making friends in the Clan with ease, and he was especially glad to have a cat like Swiftsky around. With nothing more to really say on that topic, Hazelfall simply purred and let it fall into the background so they could move on and do their task.
Swiftsky had a point. He supposed if he did train Foxpaw well enough that Sandstar would want him to train another apprentice to give them all the skills he had given Foxpaw... It made sense, but Hazelfall didn't want other warriors to feel like he was taking young cats to train away from them. Every capable warrior needed a chance at being a mentor. "You do have a point," he agreed after a moment of thinking her words over. The Clan needed experienced cats to train apprentices right now, and while Hazelfall wouldn't call himself one of the best warriors of SeaClan right now, he did know that he was at least experienced. Having been a loner all his life, he had come into the Clan already knowing a lot about hunting and battling and just surviving overall. The young cats needed to be taught how to survive if the Clan wanted to stand a chance of making it. He couldn't help but chuckle at the she-cat's next statement. "I'm sure Sandstar won't be so cruel as to make you handle two balls of energy. I'm sure your next apprentice will be as calm as the ocean on a good day." Unless for some reason Sandstar felt like Swiftsky was the perfect cat to calm down energetic apprentices, Hazelfall didn't see Swiftsky getting another spitfire of an apprentice any time soon.
Now with prey on the mind, Hazelfall picked out a few more of the she-cat's earlier catches. She had caught a lot, more than enough to keep the Clan full tonight. She's an exquisite hunter. With Foampaw needing help with hunting, I can see why Sandstar chose Swiftsky to mentor her. He pulled away from his thoughts when the black and white she-cat spoke. "It'll take them some time, but until then we need to let them know this is Clan territory now." Hazelfall picked out one last limp mouse and lay it down, looking over all the prey that had been buried. "I'm sure they're catching every mouse that you skipped over," the tabby joked with a purr.

A subtle bob of her head, like nodding along may help cement her agreement to what her leader stated so easily beside her. "Perhaps border patrols isn't an issue worth solving?" She mewed at last, head cocking to one side in an inquisitive manner. "Perhaps you'd best look to solve an issue of rotations? Station a small, fleet footed cat along each border during the heat of the day so that they can stay in the shade and keep a look out? If there's an issue, they can run for help." Ah, she felt terrible. Her responses weren't at all helpful, like she were trying to solve a problem with a long term solution when the trouble in fact only lay in the tiniest issue of who would go on today's patrol. Maybe she just enjoyed pretending she was smarter than she was?
"I'll give up my efforts, Sandstar, so that I don't waste your time. I do however believe that Ospreycry, Doepaw, and Gullcall would do good for a sun high patrol." Small, efficient, and she believed that the two warriors coupled with the little apprentice would handle themselves perfectly fine in the heat. And with that her body fell, landing with a thump that landed her laying in a ball, paws tucked beneath her fluffy light silver chest. "Impossible," A mrow of laughter, one ear flicking and the fur of her shoulder giving a twitch- as if she were silently shaking with her smothered chuckling. "Who would enjoy the company of a blubbering boulder like me? You'd be better off in the company of a Deputy, Sandstar. Someone who won't chat your ear off over little things and someone that you can confide in on the important issues. I know I'm only a distraction. You talk to me of an easily solved problem without bother of my rambling- clearly, there is something more important going on here- and I think that you are better off talking with Hazelfall or Graystone." Her expression was not hurt, nor saddened, and when she looked upon her leader she seemed amused; happy really that Sandstar had taken so much time to humor her antics. It was nice, really- talking to someone. Normally she stuck to herself and kind of did her own thing. To have actively been sought out seemed to brighten her day- made her feel needed, even if it was for the most mundane little thing.
And really, she couldn't ask for more. "Thank you, for that. Complimenting my intelligence isn't something I'm used to after so many offhand comments of my appearance prior to my life here." There was a topic she didn't talk about a lot. Prior to here. Her clan had become everything to it, and she hadn't ever been happier than the day that she bent her head and accepted a name given to her by the Stars. It was the most daunted she'd ever been, and even at present when her eyes found the blackened sky and little balls of burning white lights she was mystified to think that the dead and gone were watching over her every stride and guiding her along the correct path. Safe to say, she had been easily swayed by Sandstar's preaching, and now she found that they kept her sane. To think she was totally alone had been mortifying in her youth, and in a way she felt saved.
