Heatherfrost saw right through the other she-cat's cheery tone, and chuckled slightly to herself. Pheasanttail was a fun cat conversing with, as she was so unbelievably fake. Heatherfrost had no problems admitting that she herself could be a sly pain in the tail, but at least she was open about it. However, the one thing she was not, was judgemental. While she loved to poke fun at the she-cat for her egocentric world view, she didn't judge for it. Rather, she enjoyed watching her ego unfold, and as an extension didn't mind chatting with her. "Care to join me for a morning hunt?" she said innocently, before adding "Just for fun of course, no gossip involved at all..." She knew Pheasanttail would understand her. It was almost like she-cats spoke their own language of subtext, and both parts involved were masters of it.

"A morning hunt would be pleasant," remarked the slender tortoiseshell. She knew that the main point wasn't to hunt, rather, quite the opposite of what the pale red tabby was saying. With a somewhat smug look, Pheasanttail nodded- she loved rumors and gossip, they flowed from her ears to her mouth quicker than the streams of BayouClan. "Where shall we have it?" Underneath, she knew exactly why the two of them were acting so prim and proper for a regular day- it was the language of the mollies, a language formed by false tongues and passive-aggressive contempt. It was almost as if she had learned it before catspeak- it was instinctive to her. It ran in her blood.

"Lovely. Perhaps we could take the route along the Eastern border, towards Stone Falls? It's a splendid walk for hunting." Heatherfrost kept up her facade. While she wasn't usually one for unneccessary chatter or sugarcoated truths, she had fun mimicking Pheasanttail's preppy ways and considered it a nice excercise in the female language. She had always thrived in the realm of she-cats' snide remarks and overly loving gestures. It was essential to master if one were to survive in a molly's world. "Shall we?" She smiled sweetly at Pheasanttail, not waiting for her to reply to her suggestion of path. A wicked flame flickered in her eyes, and she streched out her tail to brush the other she-cat's flank as a light show of 'affection'.
I'm heading off to bed, goodnight! I had forgotten how much I love rping girl drama lol)

(Good night!) "That would be splendid." Pheasanttail was not one who enjoyed hunting very much- it was good for killing time, but she simply couldn't fathom wanting to do it all day like some cats did. But she knew hunting was not the point here. A bit of gossip and drama every one in a while was a good thing- but she didn't understand what "a bit" specifically was. She had caught on to Heatherfrost's mimicking her- she found some comedy in it, but she was wary it would turn to mocking. She had been mocked enough already, and she only hoped her flashy ginger-and black markings that dappled and spangled and speckled her pelt like hardened brown leaves speckling the ground would make up for it. Somewhere inside of her, she knew it wouldn't, but she brushed that off and focused again on Heatherfrost.

The creamy brown she-cat rolled over onto her back and gazed absently up at the roof of the apprentice den. Sandpaw let out a heavy sigh since most of the den was cleared by now, or at least it was when Marblefoot marched into the den to lecture Squirrelpaw and Lightpaw, and then, of course, the rest of the chatty Cathys were up too. It was exhausting and Sandpaw couldn't wait to be a warrior. Although everyone knew the new warriors slept together, therefore, sooner or later, her denmates would be right back with her and she would have to listen to nonsense squabbling while she was trying to sleep. Sandpaw scowled at the ceiling, knowing that she shouldn't be thinking negative thoughts towards her fellow apprentices but it was shortly after dawn and she was deeply irritated.
Sandpaw rolled over and pushed herself with a huff. She glanced down at her pelt and made a face as she noticed the state her fur was in. There were swirls and fur sticking the wrong way, and it wasn't flat and neat like usual. She wrinkled her nose in distaste and shook her head. She wasn't in the mood to sit in the den and groom herself into looking presentable to the clan. She decided to pad out of the apprentice den with her tail held up and confident sway in her walk. If she was going to look like a mess, she was going to be the best mess that Calderaclan had ever seen. She hoped that Rowanfang was still in camp and didn't leave her for a patrol. Sandpaw wanted to get out of camp, especially since there was a ban on leaving camp alone. She felt a twang of sadness when her thoughts drifted to Sapphiresky, the late deputy. She was a good deputy, or at least she was, in Sandpaw's opinion.

Redstar's head turned to glare at Seedspeck, "I can recall you used to throw temper tantrums when you didn't get your way" He snapped, "Leave the boys alone or go and help Berrysnout get camp ready for the Trial tonight." He felt a twidge of guilt, knowing that he let his temper get the best of him if only for a moment. "I apologize. It has been a rough few days." The ginger male tilted his head in apology before turning back to face the center of camp. "LAST CALL FOR PATROL!" he all but roared.

[ dou, the medicine cat apprentice was just taken. Sorry dear ]
Her ears perked and she turned to face the greying male, "Aren't I always?" Aspenleaf huffed fondly, eyes crinkling at Cinderflake. There was a sense of comradery there, they were both senior warriors with rambunctious if not ambitious apprentices. Though the rattling in his lungs worried her, she'd not pay attention to it just yet. "I suspect she's with your Squirrelpaw, whereever that ginger fluff is... how are you feeling? Berrysnout sort you out?"

Usually, Seedspeck was one to ignore what others said, but she knew to obey the Clan leader. Slightly surly, she shut her muzzle, although it quivered and twitched as if she was about to growl at something. Why should I have to be quiet when they are being whiny little braggarts? Why do you let him get away with everything because he has a cleft lip? It's not fair! Why isn't anything fair to me? I graduated early as an apprentice! Shouldn't I be treated better? Outside of her mind, though, the only way anyone could tell what she was thinking, how unfairly treated she felt, was a twitching whisker and an angry gunner in her eye. Next to her, her cousin looked up at Redstar in thankful admiration before giving a smug glance to Seedspeck. He felt something he scarcely felt in his short life- he felt like he had won.

Rowanfang watched intently as Redstar organized a patrol. The young leader was usually a pretty laid-back tom, so the tense air he had about him today, made it very clear how serious the situation was. Rowanfang felt more than a little twinge of sadness thinking about the late deputy. Sapphiresky had been about his age, and while they were never especially close, it was strange not to wake up to the sound of the she-cat's voice organizing patrols and chatting with the senior warriors. When Redstar practically roared that it was the last chance to join the patrol, Rowanfang considered joining. He was geniunely curious about what could have happened to his old friend. However, at the same time he didn't know if he wanted to engage in any possible fights with rogues or BayouClan cats, whatever it was that had killed Sapphiresky. To justify his decision to himself, he decided to go train his apprentice. It had been quite some time since they practised fighting skills, and considering the clan's current situation he supposed it would be a good idea. He saw her swaggering out of the apprentice den, and padded over on sturdy paws. "Morning, Sandpaw. Ready for some battle training?" he asked calmly.
Heatherfrost offered the other she-cat a sweet smile. "Great!" She could sense that Pheasanttail had caught on to her imitations, and wasn't especially pleased. For a second, Heatherfrost considered what to do next; whether to piss her off or tone it down. In the end, she decided to keep it up the way she did. She didn't want to do anything Pheasanttail could point her paw at, because she was there for the gossip after all! If she angered the she-cat immediately, she could be sure she wouldn't ever hear any scandalous rumours from her again. "Have you picked up on any interesting stories as of lately?" she asked with polite interest. It was code for Wanna drag anyone? Spill your secrets!, something she was positive she would understand.
Does anyone have any intersting unknown facts about their cats/secret crushes we can create rumours about? cx ))

A smug look was in Pheasanttail's eye. She scanned the camp. Now, who to gossip about... Her eyes settled on Doveheart, who was helping an elder retrieve prey from the fresh-kill pile. Doveheart would be an easy target- Pheasanttail loathed his cheerful behavior and gossip about him could be believed- he was a young tom, not a reckless one, but he could easily be hiding something with that chirpy attitude. "I hear that Doveheart was in an illicit romance with some she-cat from outside of the territory. It went in for two months until she told him she was expecting his kits, and he left her after that." Was it true? No. Would Doveheart do it? No. But Pheasanttail told these stories with such craft and her tongue was so smooth that she could turn black to white with nothing but a word. "Her name was Barb, they say, a pretty young brown tabby, only fourteen moons old when they first met. And Doveheart wants to find another rogue cat to repeat the romance with. He's been hiding all of this ever since he got his warrior name." The more detail, the better it got, and Pheasanttail used her muzzle to illustrate the story of a romance, steely and sleazy, a love only lit by the light of the moon and the flickering of the stars. A romance that started innocently, ended in anger and pain... a romance that never existed.

( Oh hey Fog! c: How is Dream doing? ~ I still imagine you two in a pair and probably will for the rest eternity. xD
and I am also fine with my cats and rumors/secret crushes. I really don't mind and it helps build up character and background connections ^^; since you know they are all cats that have been in a clan together since they were born. Hm. Littlespark is Proudfalcon's and Russetgrowl's half sister. I haven't really figured if that is common knowledge or most people just assume they are all littermates. I figure that the cats around their age and older would know better but everyone younger than 3 years would think they are full siblings. So there is that. )
Sandpaw & Rowanfang
Sandpaw jumped as she heard Redstar's roar and she shifted nervously on her paws, giving the leader a sidelong glance before deciding that eye contact wouldn't be a good thing. She swished her tail to ease her nerves and to appear nonchalant like the mighty tom's roar didn't startle her. She pricked her ears and her amber eyes lit up as she spotted her mentor heading her way. She couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. If she was left in the camp alone, she would probably be given the duty of cleaning out another den. Sandpaw could honestly cry if she had to clean out yet another den. She was ten moons old, almost a warrior but she still had to clean dens! It was ridiculous and then was plenty of younger apprentices for those jobs.
Sandpaw shook her head, dismissing the thoughts and directed a content purr as a greeting to Rowanfang. "Good morning, Rowanfang," she meowed with a warm tint to her meow. She adored her mentor. In her eyes, he was the best warrior she could try to achieve to be like. Sandpaw could only hope to follow in his paw steps. She jumped on her paws, swishing her tail in excitement opposed to Rowanfang's calm demeanor, "That sounds great," she chirped. She twitched her tail, "Are we going to learn something new or just practice some of the old moves?," she asked, curiously as she looked at her mentor.

[ Hey y'all. At work but I have my laptop this time so it's all good. ]
Redstar tilted his head, "Thank you Thornstripe." He easily accepted, he wanted to get this patrol on the way. "I suppose we'll have to do with just two apprentices–" Exhaustion dripped from his words, the poor male just wanted this day to pass quickly. "We're going to the Gorge and then to the Eastern Border." Perhaps he'll see something that Thunderfall missed when he found the body.
