"I get it. I don't like roaming either, so I stayed around here and decided that it would be best because there wouldn't be too much change or danger. You know... It would have been a good idea to visit Twolegplace, but I never exactly got around to it for some reason. Maybe I just like hunting for myself." Windy replied, licking her lips to get rid of the slight remnants of the shrew and scratching her ear with the back of her hind leg.

"I've only ever heard of it. My mother and father taught me all about it." he said, his eyes unopened. He flicked his tail and curled it around him. His ears rested and lay back gently touched his neck. He looked as small as an apprentice at that point. "Hunting is boring after a while. I've tried to spice it up by deleting sight from my hunting, but to no avail. Most hunts are boring now a days."

"Yeah, that's true. I do rather like hunting because it makes me feel free and such, but it gets boring after a while. Anyways.. The sun is going down. I think we should all get some rest." Windy suggested with a little yawn, tilting her head to peer up at the darkening and slightly orange dusky sky that slightly lit up the trees around.

Lightning, leaves rustling, glanced at the darkening sky. "Never mind." She called down. She sighed and leapt carefully down from the tree, babying her ribs. Lightning trotted out into the clearing and sta down next to the black tom cat. "So, what's your name?" Lightning asked again "Mine's Lightning." She mewed, glancing at the jagged white stripe down her back.

Sammy stared at the sky. "I got plenty of sleep last night. I will stay up and guard. I fought the least as well." he murmured, sitting in the middle of the clearing and watching the darkening the sky. He loved the colors of the coming night, and liked to bask in the cool air for as long as possible before getting too tired to stay up any longer.

Windy looked at him with narrowed eyes. "I'd rather do it. I'm not a weak cat, believe me. Even in this condition with my tail I can still fight off intruders. You should get some sleep yourself." She insisted stubbornly before getting up and proceeding to wash the dried blood off of her face with her paws. "The sky looks rather pretty right now, doesn't it? I'd rather stay up a bit longer to watch it anyways." Her tone grew slightly softer as she looked up with her face half lit-up by the orange dusk light.

(nothing big.)(Sammy and Windy returned to the camp and Lightning asked what Cassibar's name is.)
"I didn't say that," Sammy defended, his tone flat. He stared at the sky, and eyes unmoving, he mewed silently, "I've always thought sunset was the best time of day." His ears were relaxed and his tail was curled around him, and ever so gently, he clawed the dirt and gave a very quiet purr. "It relaxes me."

"I guess so. But please, let me take the night watch? Just to keep my pride afloat for a bit longer?" Windy pleaded him with a little laugh, looking at Sammy. Her blue eyes were wide as she stared at him for a moment, then turned her gaze back up to the ever-darkening sky. The dusk colours had begun to fade to her disappointment, and she watched the sun as it hung low in the sky. "Beautiful..." Windy murmured to herself. She never really had the time to pay attention to little things like these...

(Yeah. I was at my grandparents. I should be on for the rest of the day, if all goes according to plan.)(Oh, and my phone is broken.... I won't be on much during school.)
Sammy nodded. "Sure, just wake me up if you can't stay up all night. A sharp kick in the stomach is all I need to wake up." he murmured, taking his eyes off the sky to look at Windy, just for a moment. He then got up and turned to the little grass patch he had taken a liking to and lay down. He wanted to stay awake to see the first couple of stars come out, but once he lay down, he became tired, and didn't realize that by the time the first star had come out, he had fallen asleep.

Windy gave a sharp nod and a dip of her head, certain that she would stay awake through the night. She padded to the main entrance of the clearing and sat down, looking around in the dim light to make sure nothing was coming near the area that could be dangerous. Satisfied with her check, she pawed the ground and hoped that there would be some things to sustain her for the night. The she-cat felt her stomach rumble, and her eyes finally landed on a patch of mint she knew was edible. Slicing sprigs off with her claws, she lapped up the leaves and let the delicious taste rush into her mouth.

Sammy's soft breathing was all he needed to wake himself. He woke with a jolt, but didn't move from his spot. He flicked his tail and readjusted it. His brown fur was beginning to become damp with the nightly dew. He put his paw over his eyes to block out any remaining light. He rolled onto his back and fell back to sleep shortly, and he found himself dreaming of his family. His brother and two sisters walked in, and a successful hunt was shown by the mice and rabbits in their mouths. His big brother gave him a shove, and always the rough and tumble, his older bro bit his ear trying to wake Sammy from his daze. The brother's brown pelt resembled his own. The two were close. His sisters were calico cats with green eyes, and they hated Sammy. His mother was also calico, but she was much more loving towards him than his sisters. Their father was distant. He didn't really like anybody, except for the two girls. The newest additions to the family waddled around the two year old Sammy's paws. He picked up his little brother and sister and set them beside his mother, beaming down on his little brother, who was black as night. Their father, a black tom with bright green eyes, padded over and snatched a rabbit and gave a quick lick to their mother's ear. Sammy disliked his father. They bickered, but they did have moments together that Sammy would cherish. Suddenly, Sammy felt himself jump forward a year. The now three year old Sammy sat in front of his crying mother, who was being comforted by their father, who shot dirty looks in Sammy's direction. Sammy tried to approach his mother, but she lashed out at him and cut his ear. He backed off and loped out of the den, only to be confronted by his two sisters. They glared down on him. "How dare you," one of them said. She had bright yellow eyes that stared into his soul. "You took them out! You didn't protect them!" she hissed, tears in her eyes. The other said nothing, only held a one year old little sister by the scruff in her mouth. As she set the young one down, she sneered at Sammy. "Be glad that SHE is alive." Sammy understood what was happening. He was in the time right before he was about to leave his family to start over. His little brother had been killed by a badger when they were hunting. Sammy wasn't there. He went off to catch a mouse so they could eat it. Sammy was very close to his little brother, since his older brother left to find a Clan. His little sister had been injured trying to help her littermate. She would get better. "You don't understand-" he started, a pleading look in his eye. "I UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY!" his sister hissed, slashing his already bleeding ears. He ducked away from their hatred whilst hissing and spitting. He went into the den, and shot a glare at his father. "I'm leaving. You've made it clear I'm not welcome here anymore," he hissed, and before his father could object, he sprang out of the den and away from the den, away from his mother's new tears that had come of his leaving, away from the shouting of his sisters, away from his father's hatred. He wanted to find his brother, but his parents blabbered and he needed to get far away from the rumors that would most likely spring up from this new occurrence. Sammy stopped several days later, after travelling as far as he could without collapsing from exhaustion. He sat down and began to weep. He stopped himself. Those were the first walls he put up.
Sammy's last wall was put up when he met his little sister as a rogue. He didn't want to see her. He spat and padded away from her as she tried to speak to him. He was then a safe, keeping his deepest emotions hidden from his eyes and words. The nights he spent alone were the nights the walls would go down and he'd feel alone. He kept his walls sealed shut any other time.

Windy heard the sound of rustling in the clearing, letting a low snarl as she turned around and unsheathed her claws. There was nothing. No smell of anyone new. She gave a little sigh and realized that one of the other cats had woken up, giving her a little unnecessary startle. Whatever. It doesn't matter. Shaking out her pelt, she sheathed her claws once more and turned around to guard again. Her eyes began to get weary and her limbs began to get stiff, but her pride kept her from asking someone else to do the night watch.

Sammy eventually woke from a nightmare. "What is it with imagination," he growled, "and giving me nightmares," he added, hauling himself to his paws. "I won't be able to sleep anymore." He muttered. He padded over to Windy and said nothing as he sat down his tired bones beside her. "Anything?" He asked after a bit.

Windy jumped when she heard Sammy's voice, half-asleep and suddenly jumping to her paws with a jolt. "N...No. you gave me a bit of a scare though. When I was a kit I could barely sleep at nights because of the dark, perhaps I haven't quite gotten over it." She admitted, shaking out her ruffled fur and sighing before turning to face him. "Why are you up? Bad dreams?"

"Yeah. I suppose my mind has run wild with possibilities of being killed by one of you cats." He muttered,"A silly superstition. One I don't feel I need to believe anymore," he joked groggily. "And kits are usually scared of the dark. I wasn't usually. I always had someone watching me."

"Yeah. Well, don't worry. I won't kill you, unless something happens and we become enemies. For now it's all peaceful though and I wouldn't even think of doing it." Windy assured him with a little laugh, sighing. "I suppose you're lucky in a way, I never got anyone to see me off to sleep when it got cold and scary. Maybe that's why I still haven't really gotten over it. Anyways, it's cold and you should get some sleep. I can do my job."

"eh, there probably isn't much night left. Birds are asleep. I'm going to go look for a nest or something." he muttered, getting up and stalking off. He shook out the tiredness in his bones and stared at the trees. His ears perked up when he saw a crow's nest. He climbed up the tree, struggling to keep his balance. He swung his tail back and forth and stalked up on the crow. He grabbed its neck and threw it off the tree. No point in killing the thing that makes more eggs. he thought, and watching the crow open its wings and fly off, he picked one of their large eggs and leaped back down the tree, then padded back to Windy.

Okay, just gonna escape out of frozen mode.))
Lightning snapped her head up. She blinked the sleep out of her eyes. Oh! did I fall asleep? How rude of me. Lightning shook herself, and winced at the pain in her ribs. "Right." She muttered. Sammy was just padding back towards Windy with a large egg in his mouth. She sat down and groomed her pelt. "Be right back!" She called, padding towards her den.

Windy looked slightly amused as her gaze flitted to the frazzled crow, who was perched in a branch and squawking angrily. She shook out her pelt and looked at the egg Sammy had placed on the ground, putting a paw on it and feeling its smooth texture. Then, a small pile of uneaten prey in the corner caught her eye for a moment. "I suppose you can put it over there."

Sammy shrugged. "Fine, but you go get some rest. It's been a long day, and an even longer night. Don't let your pride make you suffer." He said, looking directly into Windy's eyes. "I know, it's the same thing I would do." he murmured, his eyes almost pleading.

Dawn light began to slowly creep into the sky. Lightning stepped into her den. Her limbs were stiff and sore, and Lightning rummaged through her small herb store for some herbs to re dress her wounds. She chewed up a bit of marigold and pasted on some cobwebs to the biggest scratches. She sighed, bowed her head a her brother's small shrine. She stepped out of her den, and walked around to the side of the trunk, and dug up a small rabbit she had stored there. She shook the dirt off it and walked back to the clearing and began munching on the savory rabbit.

"I know, it's the same thing I would do." he murmured, his eyes almost pleading. "Fine. Thanks Sammy." Windy replied with a little dip of her head, padding to a corner by a small bush and curling up beside it quietly. A dreamless night awaited her until the morning came, where she woke up early when it was still rather dark. She saw a slightly shadowed form moving around, "Morning." The she-cat muttered gruffly to the moving shape, which she knew was Lightning.

Sammy nodded before laying down and relaxing. He watched the sunrise and he shook out his fur. "Morning," he said flatly. He honestly didn't care for mornings. He was a night owl, and he hunted more when the prey were asleep and unaware. He gave a small smile when he grabbed a mouse and began eating breakfast.

Windy gave a nod of acknowledgement to Sammy, padding around the clearing to watch as everyone woke up. She felt her stomach give a little rumble and sighed. It would be better to leave the prey to the others and have some when she actually needed it. "You're awake early." She remarked to Sammy, tilting her head slightly.
