Cherry pricked her ears and stared at the nearby thicket. She could've sworn she heard something small scurrying around. Cherry flattened her body in a crouch and quietly crept towards the thorny branches. As she watched, a mouse popped out, not two cat-lengths in front of her. It was rooting around for seeds and had not noticed her yet. Cherry inched ever closer. Suddenly, the mouse sat back, alert. Cherry bunched her legs under her and leaped. The mouse tried to escape, but it was too slow. Cherry let the small body drop to the ground and purred triumphantly before tucking in.
