Owlmoon's eyes widened as she nodded vigorously. "Of course!" She shook out her fur quickly before leaping to her paws. She met Hollowstar's eyes. "I can fight now if you want!" The hint of a growl crept into her voice as adrenaline coursed through her body.

brokenBogpaw's eye lit up with excitement and he stood up, "Ha! Well I do!" He mimicked a battle move they'd learned a few days ago at the air, "I'd love to teach a fox a lesson about what happens when you mess with clancats!" Sitting back on his paws, his eyes shifted from the camp entrance to the Medicine Den, his voice sounding a little dejected, "But... yeah. I guess letting one near camp would cause trouble since Snailpaw doesn't know how to fight." Dayscar was on her paws just as quick as Specter, and only hesitated a moment to hear Hollowstar's orders before bounding into action. She bolted out the entrance following Elmheart. She hadn't been sure if Specter knew how to fight, but she bet if she was so quick to offer help, she must have been in a scrape or two.

Elmheart darted a look behind at the cats who were following him. "This way!" he shouted, following his own scent trail back to the cats he had left behind. The fox scent was already strong. Too strong. It shouldn't be this close to camp. Oh no, thought the warrior. Where is it? There are two!
Hickoryfoot hissed as she nearly knocked her head against the branches of a bush. She ducked under them, losing dearly needed seconds. She panted as she dodged the snapping jaws of the fox. "Less talking," she said. "More running!"

As soon as the other patrol left, there was a rustling of leaves just outside the camp wall, then a low growl. It was as if another creature was trying to find its way into camp. Owlmoon Hollowstar nodded to Owlmoon, being becoming distracted by the noise outside camp. "Alright, follow me!" He hissed the order, looking back toward the apprentices, then at the warrior. He then trotted off towards the camp ravine. -- Sparrow "Y-yeah, that's what I mean! Plus, it'll just be bad if a fox hurts our Clanmates..." she trailed off, nudging Bogpaw with a sort of smile. "Either way, we'll protect the Clan!" She puffed out her chest with pride, but shrunk back some as she stared at the warrior and the leader. "D-did you hear that?" -- mintedstar/furMosswing nodded, trying her best to speed up, though she was slowly losing her energy. She dodged a couple of bushes, nearly getting tripped up in a few of them, but managed to stay on her paws as they neared the riverbank. Her paws finally reached the rocky shore as she splashed into the water, now using strong strokes to stay afloat.

Dayscar bristled as the stench of fox hit her. Had they led it near camp?! She unsheathed her claws and realized she couldn't scent Hickoryfoot or Mosswing. "Where'd you leave them?" She snapped, eyes darting from either side as she ran.
Bogpaw smiled at Brokenpaw's nudge. He had been focused on Brokenpaw, missing the noise. He snapped his head towards the ravine, "No? What was it?"

Sparrow FifthRootNullElmheart had paused, fur puffed out and eyes wide. He scanned the greenery around them, not liking the sudden silence. "Hickoryfoot and Mosswing aren't here," he muttered, turning slowly. "Because this isn't where I left them. That scent is from a different fox." A low growl came as another fox stepped into view. This one was clearly female, her belly heavy with an unborn pup. Her eyes showed fear, the cats had probably stumbled over the place she had been resting. Elmheart took step back. "This isn't good..." he said. brokenHickoryfoot followed soon after, paws sending up small waves as she forced them to move through the shallows as fast as possible. Her ears were laid back and she darted a look behind her at the fox as it fought its way through the bushes. "Get deeper into the river," she said. She dove forward until her paws could no longer touch bottom and from there began paddling. She was glad that she had learned to swim at a young age.

Specter, upon seeing the female fox, stood her ground. "This fox looks fearful. Let's just stand until it does something." She sounded confident in her strategy. "We could avoid conflict altogether if it just backs away."

(oh no okay there are three foxes xD) In Camp: ( Sparrow @owlmoon) Brokenpaw blinked, eyeing the ravine. "I thought I heard-" she was cut short as a fox burst through one of the walls of the camp, clearly missing the camp's enterance. It turned on its paws, heading straight for whatever cats it could find first, which happened to be the apprentices. "A-a fox!" The small apprentice exclaimed, looking like a little furball now. She unsheathed her claws, backing away slightly. Hollowstar stopped short of reaching the camp enterance, turning his small group around as he eyes the fox. "Drive it out of camp! Make sure it doesn't make it to the elder's den or the nursery!" -- mintedstar/furWith a quick nod, Mosswing did the same, easily swimming towards the other side of the bank. She glanced back quickly, noticing the fox approaching the shore and following suit. The warrior cursed, paddling faster.

"Its too close to camp." Dayscar hissed under her breath, but she took Specter's advice and held still even though her paws itched to attack or run or do something.
Bogpaw let out a yowl of surprise and arched his back as he stumbled back a step or two. His throat closed up with fear, but then he remembered Brokenpaw next to him and he let out a big hiss and took a step forward, positioning himself slightly in front of his sister.

brokenHickoryfoot wanted to hiss in annoyance as the fox followed them into the river. But she knew from experience that she would just inhale a mouthful of water. It wouldn't be a good idea to speak until they were on the other side of the river. She tried to swim faster and against the current that was picking up as they got closer to the center of the river. -- Sparrow FifthRootNullThe fox backed a step away, though her lips were pealed back from her teeth in a growl. Elmheart was deadly still. His eyes followed the fox, wary. He didn't know what they should do, but somehow they had to get this fox out of their territory and help Hickoryfoot and Mosswing with their fox. "Dayscar," he said quietly. "Can you loop around the fox and go help my sister and Mosswing?"

Dayscar's mouth, which was twisted into a snarl, warped into a grin. Splitting up normally wouldn't be her first strategy, but in this case, it was just what they needed. "Yes. You two try and pacify the vixen until you can get a patrol to help." She began to slowly step back from the fox, inching back until she had better cover. Once she felt she was in the clear, she broke into a sprint and began making a wide berth around the vixen.

(Uh, well they're headed deeper into their territory, on the mossy field side, if that makes sense ^^" so west I think) Sparrow Owlmoon Brokenpaw gasped at what Bogpaw did, but she took a deep breath and stood beside her brother, hissing at the fox. The fox had been advancing the apprentices, swiping out its paws before whipping around to see the two other cats. It growled, snapping its jaw at them. Hollowstar had followed Owlmoon and had been about to jump the fox, but leaped back as it snapped towards them. He threw a clawed paw at its face. -- mintedstar/fur Mosswing didn't bother looking back at this point, she just heard the splashes of the fox. As the current picked up, it slowly drifted her down the river some, though she had still managed to keep her head above the water. Then her paws touched a few stones underwater. They were almost to the other side, and hopefully the fox would be swept downstream... She snuck a glance over at Hickoryfoot, hoping she would be able to make it to the other side.

brokenHickoryfoot kept up, though had compensated for the flow of the river enough that she was not swept so far down river. Her paws brushed the bottom of the riverbed and she fought to keep her balance. She looked over at Mosswing, worrying about her. But she appeared fine. The she-cat bounded forward, once again sending splashes of water out from her outstretched paws. It wasn't until she got to the opposite bank that she looked back.

Specter was frozen in place, staring the fox dead in the eyes. "If it advances, we need to do something to immobilize it. Then, we either kill it or scare it away," she muttered to Elmheart. She seemed determined to one-up the fox with strategy.

The fox snarled and jumped to the fro, trying to knock the warrior from its back. The fox began slashing its paws out frantically. One of its paws managed to hit the leader's side, but it didn't phase him as Hollowstar took this opportunity to bite at its tail, shaking his head back and forth. -- mintedstar/furMosswing bounded out of the river, not bothering to shake out her fire as she stared back the way they had come. The fox still seemed to be fighting against the current, so she raised her gaze. She frowned slightly. "That's taking Elmheart so long to bring help?" She wondered out loud, but shook her head, glancing at the warrior before trotting upstream, staying close to the riverbank.

FifthRootNull"You honestly think two cats are going to kill that?" hissed Elmheart out of the side of his mouth. "If it does anything, we run. Run for the nearest border. She looks like she'll be slower than the fox that Mosswing and Hickoryfoot ran into." The fox turned her head, fear still in her eyes, but it was swiftly fading. She wanted the cats away from her sleeping place. Her growl deepened.

broken"Should we watch the fox to make sure that it's swept out of our territory?" asked Hickoryfoot as she swiftly walked after Mosswing. She was worrying about her brother, but wasn't sure if there was anything she could do about that. She bit her lip, not liking the thought that something might have happened back at camp or before he had reached it. She watched the fox struggle in the water. "If it gets out, we need to try and chase it out. We can't have foxes anywhere near the camp."

Dayscar headed in the direction Elmheart had been leading them and soon picked up their scent. It seemed that they'd headed for the river. Dayscar darted in the direction of the riverbank. Her ears flattened against her skull as she weaved between the trees before finally exploding out onto the bank. She skidded to a stop, nearly slipping on some smooth wet stones. She looked up the river past the rotten plank, but she couldn't make out anything between low branches and large stones dotting the riverside. She turned to look down the muddy bank which was mostly clear. She let out a hiss. She couldn't see any- wait. Several treelengths downriver, she made out a figure climbing out from the water onto the opposite bank.
Bogpaw leaned away from the fox's swipes and frantically tried to recall what he'd been taught about fighting foxes, but found his mind was a jumble. What was he supposed to do?! He was going to die! Then the fox turned away, exposing its back. "Oh!" Momentary relief and clarity swept him and Bogpaw found himself moving before his mind caught up with what he'd decided to do. He sprang up onto the fox's back beside Owlmoon, his small size allowing him to fit beside the warrior. He tried to hook his claws into it so it couldn't throw him off all while letting out a panicked gasping noise. "Ah! Ah!"

mintedstar/fur SparrowMosswing nodded, coming to a stop and turning around until the fox was on her sight. "Yea, that would be the best idea," she meowed, then just barely sat down, though she was ready in case they had to fight the fox. She looked up and down the bank, eventually seeing a figure farther up the shore. "Aha, help did come! But only one cat?" -- Owlmoon & Sparrow Brokenpaw stared after he brother, a little bit surprised about what he had just done, then shook her head, jumping towards the fox herself as she raked her claws along its back. The fox still seemed to be struggling to shake the cats off, it moving closer toward the center of camp as it swayed back and forth, twisting its head around to try to snap at their paws.

Dayscar turned and darted in the direction of the rotten plank. It wasn't far, and she didn't pause to sprint across it and begin running back down the bank towards the figure she'd seen. Sure enough, as she got closer she made out a pair of very drenched cats sitting on the muddy bank. They appeared to be watching the water. The fox must have entered the river as well. "Mosswing! Hickoryfoot!" Dayscar called as she approached, "Where's the fox?" She turned to give a dirty look at the water before adding in explanation, "We ran inta a second fox on our way here. An expecting vixen. Elmheart and Specter are tryin' to keep it busy."
Bogpaw lifted his claws to strike at the fox, just as it bucked, and he lost his footing, sliding off the fox and beneath its stumbling paws. Bogpaw scrambled away from the fox's head and teeth, eyes wide, managing to get stepped on in the process. He let out a squeal and bit the offending fox's foot as hard as he could.

Mosswing straightened up as the deputy approached, then angled her ears toward the water. "Dayscar! The fox is swimming across the river. We were hoping that it would get swept out of our territory," she said, then looked back at the deputy. "And there's another fox in our territory?"
-- In Camp: "B-Bogpaw!" Brokenpaw yelled, still swiping her paws out at the fox. She tried to push the thing away from her brother, but she really didn't do a good job. The fox was still distracted as it knocked Owlmoon off.
Hollowstar cursed softly and leaped in front of the fox, blocking the warrior from the fox's mouth. He hissed, swiping at its nose, which only made the fox become more angry. He glanced back at the warrior. "You alright?"

broken"Yes," Dayscar watched the fox. It was much farther downriver now, but it was getting closer to the bank. It would probably manage to get out of the water near the border. She scanned the two drenched warriors. They looked tired, but unharmed. "We'll send a patrol to make sure that Mangepelt made it all the way out of the territory later." She turned sharply and signaled with her tail for the warriors to follow, "The vixen is close to camp and Elmheart and Specter need our help." She picked up a brisk pace as she headed back the way she came. In almost an afterthought, she added in a relieved voice, "I'm glad you two are in one piece." Bogpaw felt the fox's blood fill his mouth and the fox jerked its leg in response, forcing Bogpaw, with the force of the kick, to let go. He spat out the blood and stumbled back until he was beside his sister again. His side hurt from being stepped on, but he could barely feel it at the moment with how hard he was shaking. He took in a shuddering breath, having forgotten to breathe for a moment. He looked at Brokenpaw, grateful she was there. He could make out Hollowstar and Owlmoon on the other side of the fox. They were in camp. This was their home. They were going to chase the fox out! Bogpaw managed to quell his trembling as he let out a snarl and swiped at the fox's flank, "Get out of our camp!"
