I just realized I have probably ignored people who were offering to be mentors. If I've done that then I'm sorry  That said, Reedpaw still needs a mentor if anyone is okay with that) Lionpaw nodded. "I'd love to", he said, flexing his paws. I feel like sinking my claws into a fat mouse right now. he thought. Why he was so agitated, he didn't quite know. Perhaps it was the clan's situation weighing on his mind. "Can Reedpaw come with us? He has nothing to do right now" he flicked his tail in Reedpaw's direction. In response, Reedpaw waved his tail at Cherryblossom in greeting, a goofy smile spreading across his face. Lionpaw rolled his eyes at that. Moron. |

"It's okay. Take your time." Brackenclaw mewed soothingly. "Flamestar would rather you be calm and capable of giving a report, than frantic and incapable. The badger's gone for now, and I doubt that it would be too eager to attack more cats right now, so just take a breath and relax for a moment before we return to camp."
"I'll go with you." Flamestar meowed. "I'd like to see how she's doing and hear Cloverleaf's opinion on her condition if possible."

Cherryblossom smiled, "I'm sure he can come, we can head out right now, if it's okay with you, I don't think we need to organize a full patrol right now," she mewed.

"I think I'm ready to head back now", Poppymist replied earnestly, thankful for Brackenclaw's support. She slowly stood up again, bending her chest to the ground and lifting her lower back high into the air to stretch her hind legs. The deputy waved her tail high in the air, regaining her earlier confidence as she signaled for the patrol to head back to camp. Poppymist waited in the back of the group for Brackenclaw. "You can lead again, Blazepelt", she added.
Foxscar licked the fresh blood off of his shoulders as he listened to Poppymist. "This will make for a nice battle scar", he commented, proud of his hard work. The tom decided to stay behind Blazepelt as they padded back to camp.

Firepool nodded, "Of course," she meowed, glad Flamestar was accompanying her.

Brackenclaw padded alongside Poppymist at the back of the patrol. "I'm glad you're alright." He meowed quietly, so that only she could hear him. "But what happened back there? It kind of startled me to see you like that. I just want to know that you're okay."

Lionpaw smiled.
"Cool." He beckoned Reedpaw over, and the apprentice came, grinning and tail waving.
"So we're hunting? Let's go!" Reedpaw said cheerily. He made a head start for the camp exit, his long legs allowing him to cover the ground in just a few bounds. Once at the exit, he glanced back to see if the others were following him.
Lionpaw didn't go along with his friend's sprightly attitude, but instead rolled his eyes at him once more. Despite this, he couldn't help but smirk.

Lionpaw followed his mentor out of camp, eager to start hunting. Reedpaw bounded ahead of them and scented the air for prey. So far he couldn't detect anything.

Flamestar gave his daughter a nod and padded towards the medicine den. "I think that, if Cloverleaf starts to become doubtful that Pebblepaw will wake up, we should prepare ourselves to say goodbye."

Reedpaw never heard what Cherryblossom said. He leaped off of the beaten path and disappeared into the foliage, wanting to run and stretch his long legs. Sure he would search for prey as well, but he mainly wanted to get out of camp and feel free for a while.
Lionpaw didn't follow him. He knew he couldn't match Reedpaw's pace, or run nearly as fast as he could for that matter. Guess I'll have to stick with stalking my prey. he thought. Leave the rabbits for Reedpaw, he would search for animals that couldn't quite escape so far. He lifted his nose into the air to smell, not quite ready to leave his mentor's side.

Lionpaw crouched, lashing his big fluffy tail. Finally! he thought. He could see some grass rustling ahead, and smelled the squirrel, and knew that if he didn't get this right then the squirrel would escape up the tree next to it. He stalked forward, flexing his muscles, his eyes trained only on the rustling grass. Then he leaped right for it, relying on his back legs to give him a good jump.
(It can be up to you whether or not he catches it Dawnrise ^.^)

Reedpaw rushed through the trees, feeling carefree since no one was around him. His mentor wasn't nearby and he didn't think Lionpaw's mentor would chase after him either, so for now he would enjoy being on his own. He finally slowed when he neared a particularly large puddle; it had yet to evaporate from the sun that was shining on it through the forest ceiling. A place to relax! he thought, and laid down at the edge of the puddle. There he spent his time soaking up the warmth and watching the minnows swim lazily below him.

Lionpaw stared down at the dead squirrel, looking up in surprise when Cherryblossom spoke to him.
"Oh, I didn't realize I did that. Sorry", he meowed. His mind had been too preoccupied, but at least he was able to catch the squirrel anyways.

She cropped into a crouch and surveyed the ground before before gently sliding towards the thrush. When she got close enough she took two bounds to the bird and swiped its flying form down with a claw. She picked up the limp bird and brought it back to Lionpaw. "We should get back to camp once we find-"She looked around confused as she realized Reedpaw was gone. "Um, where's Reedpaw?" |
