Thornstep looked at her sharply. "Why," He paused, licking his paw. "Would an innocent deputy do that?" He growled, and stood up. he padded away. "But, Gingerclaw... I am no innocent deputy."

Ghostfang stepped out from behinh her. "Gingerclàw. We need to talk."

Ghostfang almost laughed. This cat was snapping at her! She shook her head. "Ah, patience is a virtue, young warrior. We have some talking to do." She led the warrior into the Elder's den, which was empty. She decided to get straight to the point. "Thornstep and I are going to take over Emberclan."

Ghostfang's face twisted into a horrid smile. If only Gingerclaw had been looking up. Then, she would have seen the cold intelligence in the elder's eyes. The plans that the old cat ran through her head in rapid fire were full of blood and pain. Maybe if Gingerclaw had seen them, she wouldn't have secured all of them.
