(good afternoon all. sorry about not being on last night, i got busy. i will be on most of today though. hawky, dont worry about it i get it, people get busy. berrysong, i will be continuing the rp)

DuskPelt dipped her head in agreement. "come on then." leading the way, the she cat headed for the entrance, and, from there, their training hollow. upon arrival, the she-cat was pleased to find that they were alone, and would have the whole space to themselves.

DuskPelt turned and faced her apprentice. "alright. we'll start with an ambush situation." the cream and orange colored she-cat padded in a circle around the white apprentice as she spoke, keeping herself a moving target. "so what do you do if i do......" she trails off, and pounces on the tom, claws sheathed as to not hurt him. she knocks him onto his back.

DuskPelt stood opposite her apprentice, and nodded. "good. but you dont ever want to turn your back on you attacker. that gives them an opening to your spine, and you want to protect that. " she advised. "you come at me, and ill show you a better way to handle being knocked on your back" she prompted.

LightBringer began to stir in the queens den, having been able to sleep in for once, as her kits had tired themselves out more than usual the day before. with a yawn, she shook her head, and then gazed down at her five kits curled up beside her. they were all still asleep, and she purred happily.

DuskPelt let her apprentice push her onto her back, before kicking out hard with her back legs, throwing him off. almost as soon as he hits the ground, the she-cat has pinned him down again. "that is a much safer way to get an enemy off of you, while also instantly giving you control back over the fight." with that being said, the mentor backs off, and puts some distance between the two of them. "now, say you end up on your back and your opponent is stronger then you are, and you cant throw them off. what move do you use to regain control?" she quizzes the young tom, seeing is he can remember

(if you need any help btw, theres a post on the first page that has the main battle moves, etc)

"excellent, im glad you remembered. its a very fast way to gain control in a fight, and renders an opponent almost completely defenseless. only use it if you have to, as it can easily kill, and thats not always the goal." DuskPelt praised proudly. "now, i think we should try a new move today. when facing a larger and stronger opponent, you can use the leap and hold. its keep you out of reach of their paws, because you leap onto your opponent's back, and hold on with your claws. you can easily inflict lots of damage." the she-cat explained. "lets give it a try okay?"

DuskPelt dipped her head in acknowledgement. "that is a possibility, that is why you have to pay attention to what they are doing. if it feels like they are moving to flip over, leap off, and out of the way so you dont get crushed" she explains, proud that her apprentice thought of that.

"try it on me." DuskPelt meowed, and she tensed up as well, preparing for the attack. she wasnt going to move away, at least not this first time, so that her apprentice could try it out first.

DuskPelt crouched as GhostPaw landed on her back, stabilizing herself so she doesnt fall over. after a few seconds, she gets up and goes to flip over, testing her apprentices reflexes to something like that.

DuskPelt got to her paws again, and nodded. "very good!" she praised him. "lets try it the other way, see if you can avoid it. because thats a major part of fighting too, is dodging" the she-cat explained. without a warning, she launches herself at the tom, and try to land on his back

With a chuckle, DuskPelt landed and skidded a little before stopping. "not bad for a first attempt. remember, an enemy isnt going to warn you before they attack. thats why its so important for you to always be on your guard when out patrolling or in general. something could ambush you at any time, and you need to have fast reflexes to be able to avoid getting hurt." the mentor advised. "what other moves are you having trouble with? i say we pick one more, and then stick to practicing those three for today" she meowed, watching her apprentice.

"alright, good choice. so lets say im the badger. show me what youd do" DuskPelt instructs, positioning herself in the middle of the clearing so that GhostPaw has plenty of room to maneuver around her. the she-cat was pleased with his progress, and his determination.

DuskPelt, moved slower than normal, in an attempt to be as much like a badger as possible. in doing so, it allowed ghostpaw to snag her hind leg, and she let him pull her off balance. "now, mind you, it wont be that easy to knock a badger over. theyre much bigger and heavier" she commented as she got to her paws again.

"You're right." Ghostpaw mewed. He knew it wasn't perfect, he had to try harder.

Ghostpaw nodded and backed away, preparing to try the attack again. He rushed forward, this time jumping over Duskpelt's back and reaching for the other hind leg.
