Spikepaw sat at the edge of the camp, gazing around. He noticed Fishpaw at the edge of the clearing. He decided to talk to him, and padded in his direction. He didn't know his fellow apprentice well, so he figured he would.

Spikepaw sat down next to the tom. "Hello," he mewed. He licked a gray forepaw and drew it over his ear. "How are you?" he asked Fishpaw.

"I'm okay," he said. He licked his paw again and drew it over the tuft of white fur on his head.

He glanced at the fresh-kill pile, and decided it might need a little stocking. He looked back at Fishpaw and nodded, smiling a little. He stood up and started to pad towards the entrance. He looked back and asked, "Where do you think we should hunt?"

Spikepaw's whiskers twitched. That was pretty funny. He imagined the warrior falling in the lake, and purred. He began to pick up his pace. "Come on!" His small paws easily glided across the ground.

Spikepaw nodded. He started to approach the bank of the lake, looking into it and at his reflection.

"I'll be fine!" he mewed. He put his head a little closer to the water, gazing into it to see if there were any fish swimming around.

"Yep," he agreed. He crouched down near the edge, making sure his shadow didn't fall on the water. He stayed completely still, his claws unsheathed. He stared at the water, willing for a fish to swim by. Something shiny and silver in the water caught his eyes. His small paw flashed in the water, creating a small splash, and a fish plopped on he shore next to him. He bit it, and placed it next to him, waiting for more.

"Thanks," he said happily. He saw Fishpaw catch one too. "Good catch," he mewed. He turned his gaze back to the water. He decided he would try to catch one more.

"I guess so," he said. He stiffened a bit when he felt his tail touch his shoulder, but he forced himself to relax. He smiled and looked back at the water, carefully scanning it.

Spikepaw nodded in approval. He saw another one streak past his vision. He quickly sliced his claws into the water, and felt them catch on the fish's scales. He lifted his claw out of the water with the fish hanging from it. "There we go," he mewed half to himself.

Spikepaw nodded in agreement. He took one of the fish in his jaws, and put the other under his chin, squashing it against his chest. He knew he must have looked funny, but he knew it was a good way to hold them.
